So here goes the story.

I bought an owlite shield max shock in the AH.
I try to sell the shield on bazaar and on trade channels.

I found this guy who wanted to buy CE. So I sold him some. Then I asked if he wanted to buy my items and he had a look.
He saw my owlite shield and was interested.
He asked me how much it was. I offered 800ce.
In the end he paid 623 CE and the deal was done.
He was really happy about a max uv and even said he would buy more max uv items from me when I get them.

A while later. A random person starts harassing me. Wants to add me then accuses me of scamming.
Later on, I found out it was the buyer's friend.

The buyer wants a refund. Now I obviously don't want a refund. I have no reason to refund, I want my items sold of course!
They think the shield is worthless because an owlite already has shock. So, they accuse me of ripping him off.

I sold it to him fair and square. I told him it was shock max. His reasons for a refund is because he didn't know it was shock. He just knew it was maximum "something"...

It was cheap because I bought it cheap. But in a game we can't really put a price on any item and claim its a scam if you under/over-sold/buy.

So really, he wants to report me... I don't know how GM's deal with all their reports but I know a lot of innocent people get banned for nothing. I've read forums where people said the word "scam" "scammer" or "hacker" and got banned LOL

Just a frustration post...

It's really no your fault

It's really no your fault that he didn't read the details of the UV. what UV, an item has max of is very important so crying ignorance as a reason for a refund really isn't fair. Besides, I heard stats can exceed the bars anyway. I actualy like to start seeing overlaying bars so we can get gold starred items :)

Gah, I hate people like that.

Gah, I hate people like that. Stupid is as stupid does. If you didn't do anything wrong, you won't get banned. Just immediately ignore that person, put up a funny auto response, and switch havens. Or invite them onto a level too hard for them with you then kick them out.

In general...

... if both sides agree upon a trade that's completed as such, then it's not considered scamming. It's not your fault that the buyer was gullible enough to not check the UV even after being told of it. You wanted 800 CE (but eventually settled with 623 CE), and he wanted a max UV item. Sure, that may be a rip off, but there's absolutely no scam in that.

Also, it really ticks me off that people use the terms "scamming" and "ripping off" interchangeably. The difference is that whereas scamming usually involves wrongdoing (like maliciously tampering with the trade that's otherwise agreed upon), ripping off simply refers to a bad transaction.

On a side note, whether or not a trade is a rip-off is completely a matter of opinion. As much as his friend would object after learning about the trade, your buyer bought the shield happily without immediate objection. There's no fault on your part other than possibly exploiting someone without much marketing knowledge.

See, a scam is telling people

See, a scam is telling people that your frost gel is a chroma tear, and selling it for 1k
Riping someone off is just selling them a frost gel for 1k.

HAHA!

Good one DrLequack! I mistook my Chroma tear for a frost gel once. I was like :o this is a high star item? Wasn't it a frost gel? No?

@killerjas30: Yeah, people like that...really annoys me. Ripping off and scamming are 2 different things entirely. A scam will rip you off, but a ripoff doesn't count as a scam, if that makes sense...

Mine was worse. I got some guy calling me a scammer for no reason. I was selling a Wolver set for 4.5K, which was lower than the cheapest AH price at the time. Some dude randomly shouts out to everyone that I was a scammer, and was going to steal all their cr if they co-operated with me. I was like wtf? I didn't even kno this guy.

He tells me he's just kidding eventually, then sets up a trade with me. I show him the gear, then he runs around telling everyone I tried to scam him. He even brings a friend/guilie, to come and harass me as well. I reported them both.

Luckily, I managed to sell it anyway for 4K. ^^

Think the 2 are related? Here was my link: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/21190

I like how seraphic helm and

I like how seraphic helm and jelly helm have the same icon as well. I almost fell for that once. I ironicaly ended up buying the jelly helm though, cause he decided to make a good price.

I really hate people who accuse scamming....

@Valkyrie182
i saw your thread. Nice story, bad people.

Also why do these people do this?
1. THEY AGREED TO THE TRADE.100% THIER FAULT FOR THAT.
2. You said it was Max! Shock resist. Their fault for not knowing what the most popular shield in the game was.
3. Shock resist is GREAT.
4. How do they expect to ban you and get back their CE without EVIDENCE. Someone reported me for not letting them join a run. Big deal. Even with that evidence, OOO is a sensible group of people.
Those buyers will 1. NEVER get back that CE 2. will still whine about it and 3. You can message them everyday to make them mad that you weren't banned. I find it satisfying to have a bit of comeback againt my enemies ;)

Anyway, good luck with your future selling (to all of you) and maybe ill buy somethin from ya ;). tbh at first I forgot about the shock resist on Owlite too lol, either way I would keep it and RESELL. Why cant they just resell the sheild for a HIGHER PRICE!? Cus they're too stupid to think of it.

Sorry if i seem a little harsh but i am fed up about people that argue and complain that CE is too high or that they were scammed or that they got hit in a level cus of lag and lost 2 ce boo-hoo....srsly they need to stop. tell me if im wrong.
P.S i find it strange that the most popular posters (imo) on the forums are getting called scammers and are being trolled....
"Coincidence?...I think NOT!!!1!"
