Can anyone suggest a suit of armor that is specifically designed to hold up against Wolver bites?

Here ye go,
Wolver line for swordies, gunslinger line for gunners, and Quicksilver line for Bombers.

Bombers can choose to cover
Bombers can choose to cover their CTR with either UVs or CTR trinkets now - having the bomber armor isn't mandatory.
As for armor, there isn't a choice that's good against beasts specifically like there is for slimes, so get whatever boosts your playstyle the most. Skolver for swordies, Shadowsun or Justifier for gunners, Virulisk if you hate slimes too (and don't use swords enough to justify skolver)... Cobalt line armor actually has higher defense according to the bas than any other piercing set, but at the cost of no other bonuses. Just once I'd like to see someone in full ironmight for hilarity's sake too, but you should probably stay away from that unless you have a v.high attack speed UV on everything.
Ultimately you want to choose something with more normal defense than piercing, since most piercing attacks also deal some amount of normal damage as well and normal defense will help you against the attacks that aren't piercing at all, but that's ok - everything with piercing defense except the jelly suits seems to be that way.
Oh, if you want defense against beasts because of alpha wolvers, even maxing out your defenses against them doesn't work out too well. Just a warning, it's better to avoid being hit at all by them. They break just about any piercing shield with their bite combo, too.

The way I like to handle
The way I like to handle Alpha Wolvers is to time your shield so that you both block their bite, and their forward momentum causes your block to shield bump them away from you (so they miss with the next two bites).

OverDingle's comment about no Beast specific armor made me think...I was sure that the Drake/Wyvern scale mail had a buff to Beast damage, but I am unable to find it on the Wiki. Was I dreaming this, or is it not the case anymore? I had a set but sold it, as I just use my gun or bomb armor for everything nowadays.
Anything with piercing defense would be good, so: wolver set, drake set, chroma set, jelly set, gunslinger set, quicksilver set, cobalt set, silver/ radiant silver mail, and ironmight plate mail. Some of these get different bonuses as the lines go up so make sure to do some research before picking. I would recommend wolver and going to vog as that seems to be better for vana.
