Yes, you share Energy. Free

Yes, you share Energy. Free accounts on the same computer effectively share the same Mist Energy reserve.

Paid accounts on the same computer do not share Energy reserves. When sharing a computer the best way to avoid conflicts with this game is for each user to purchase the cheapest ($0.75) Energy package.

that's kinda an awful thing

that's kinda

an awful thing to do to your userbase

it's like if you have a sibling who likes the game, too, you're &*() outta luck, and that's not cool

Edit: Please don't use profanity on the forums.

It's more likely born of a system to protect against farmers. This way you can't go account crazy on a single computer.

I'm pretty sure a pair of siblings could find a $1.50 to avoid this all together.

The benefits of stopping free

The benefits of stopping free players from gaming the mist energy system far outweigh the negatives of putting off those who aren't going to pay anyways.

If you pay, even 75 cents, you don't share mist energy anymore. Small price to pay, in my opinion.

...of course the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, if each need is exclusive. There's absolutely no way to justify anything otherwise.

It's different when you're

It's different when you're running a game or company. It is the company's job to make people /want/ their product. People aren't going to want it if it singles people out. It might not be you singled out this week, but it might be next week. And then you won't find it so fair.

Spiral Knights is supposed to be a fun, free game with the /option/ of paying for extra features. It is immoral to force some people to either pay or not play at all because of a poorly designed feature, no matter how few are affected. For all you know, this could be a sign of a greater problem that will affect more later down the line. The needs of the many /do not/ outweigh those of the few because just one of the Few is just as much of a person as a random single person picked from the Many. Just because you're a minorty does not mean you deserve less service than those in the majority, and to think otherwise is rude.

Also it seriously cannot be /that hard/ for the programmers to come up with a solution to this, seriously.

You are right, it is

You are right, it is different when you're running a game or company, you have employees to pay, and investors that would like to see profit. This is a game run for money, like just about every other game out there. Therefore decisions are made which benefit the paying population the most. If you can't pay then unfortunately you are less important then the paying population. This decision isn't singling out anyone, its simply stating, "If you don't have a paying account then you share energy with the rest of the users on that computer." In this day and age you can go out and get a VISA gift card which works exactly like a credit card on most sites at almost any grocery store or gas station. It shouldn't be hard to get the money saved up if they were really interested in this game.

As for it being so easy to come up with a solution to the problem without requiring paying, if its so easy then why don't you have any suggestions. Truth is, its not very easy to define different users from one computer, from one person with multiple accounts trying to circumvent the energy restriction. Anything two people can do to set them apart can just as easily be done by one person. The moderate penalty of having to pay to get separate accounts is simple and not like they don't get the normal benefit from buying energy.

It seriously cannot be /that hard/ to pay 1.50 for a game you enjoy playing to have separate mist pools.

So...

So let me just clarify this.

If my brother just pays 75 cents ONCE (not repeatedly), he will no longer share mist energy with me?

Or would you have to repeat it...or another possibility, both of us have to charge before it stops sharing.

Pretty sure you're going to

Pretty sure you're going to have to pay repeatedly because people with siblings are not allowed to play for free apparently.

It is a one time issue. Paid accounts do not share Mist Energy reserves on the same computer. Not pays or paying; paid.

Paid

We need to pay for both or just one account ?

If Aaccount paid, Baccount free, will the energy share in one-way solution ?

or they just share no more ?

^Yes that is correct (I just tested it)

Account A (paid) and Account B (free) have separate Mist Energy reserves that are not shared in any way, shape or form.

However, if Account C (free) is created it will share reserves with Account B (free).

Well, I guess the fact that I

Well, I guess the fact that I found the thread and gave the company some money means the topic is readily accessible.

In the process of making my accounts paid, I bought 3500 energy instead of 200... lol. I'll find ways to use it up I'm sure.

Was this "paid account vs free account" info readily accessible? I'm not sure how to fit the info into the game... I dunno. I almost stopped playing because of this weird Mist Energy sharing thing.

DDO had a system like this also. Auctions were severely limited until you paid them some money, even 50 cents. I'm sure this isn't the first nor the last game to try this.

I definitely prefer this over shelling out 1 month of "subscription".
