hey idunno if i should ask it here but will we lose
all our characters, items, crowns and energy after the preview?
I actually hope not but please let me know.
our characters
does that include energy bought with crowns ingame? not real money
I'm pretty sure it doesn't include energy bought with crowns.
As one of the 3R devs clarified in another thread, it is specifically only crystal energy that you directly purchased, which means the players making the huge investments for the energy trade will be even more loaded than ever to do their business.
All the energy you buy with crowns was actually purchased by another player with real money.
Hence, it makes sense to only give energy to the original, cash purchaser. Otherwise, any energy that had ever been traded would appear in the system twice!
Will guilds be wiped? Reforming the guild would be a huge pain.
@Endcrab - Yes. Everything will be wiped.
Be sure to share e-mail addresses or something before the wipe if you want to stick together I'd say. You can't quite rely on in-game names, as they can be taken by others after the wipe.
Do our Knights (names) also get wiped? This would mean that we would not be guaranteed our previous names, as someone might take them before we can get them again. The same goes for Guilds, but I severely doubt anyone is going to try to be an intentional pilferer of Guild names. To do so one would need to have hundreds of CE they would be willing to throw away.
Knights names will get wiped as well, but not your account name.
So in order for us to secure our wanted names, we must log in after a wipe as soon as possible, right?
Dang... My friend Kitty has to get on quick because there is another player named Kittie who I'm sure would love to have that name...
I hope nobody steals my name or else there will be fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A wipe comes with the intention to give everybody an equal chance at the new beginning of the game. Equal chances at picking names is only normal to come along with that?
Yes Evolution, that is true. What I fear is the malicious people who will intentionally take names, perhaps of those they dislike, and hold them on alternate accounts they will never use, just for the sake of hurting them. I suppose there is no optimal solution to this, as people are people. It is an unsettling thought, though.
Often developers have a way for their beta players to secure account/character names before the game launches - I've seen this occur on several other games that were coming out of beta/preview phases.
I hope someone steals my name so they can get all the nasty whispers I usually get.
It might be interesting if they prevent the creation of characters with names that match account names (and vice versa). It'd ensure that nobody can impersonate someone by using that person's account-name on a character. Making it only a matter of character names in general, which aren't so intimately tied to an account in the first place. Of course, people might just start using variant names (of their own account, or impersonating others) which would mean it's a bt too much effort for not much gain.
Beta wipes can also occur because some patch adjusts the ways the game works, and effectively "breaks" older characters' compatibility with the later version.
In the past, Three Rings has reserved character names for something like a week when a new server starts -- people who are actively playing don't have to log in like loons, and names that people aren't using become available because no one claims them by the end of the week.
That has been the case for opening new servers at Puzzle Pirates if I'm correct? That's a different matter from going to Open-Beta though?
There's no reason preventing them from being able to do it during any server start that I can think of. So if they have another Preview Event after this, they can easily set up the name reservation system again.
It was also the case moving from Azure (alpha-beta) to Midnight (beta-release), iirc.
We will, but everyone who bought energy will get it refunded plus an extra 25%
