Hi,i've been autoselling/buying ce for the past 2 and a half months or so i've been playing spiral knights and don't know if auto-ing increases or decreases the cost of ce. i just want a plain answer and don't want this to turn into another thread rant.
Autoselling/buying
You could probably save/make crowns by being a little more patient, but in my opinion autoselling/buying is probably neutral to the CE market. You aren't posting a price , so you aren't influencing others to undercut/overbid your price, so any change in prices is nothing to do with you.
If more buyers > sellers then price increases
If more sellers > buyers then price decreases
Autobuying increases the price a hair, since it's a transaction that takes place at the upper end of the buy/sell gap, and eats into the sell wall a little bit.
Posting a buy price at the buy wall increases the buy wall, and basically means you're waiting for someone to autosell and move the price down a hair.
But even if you got a bunch of people to do one way or another, you can't swing the market with this, because it doesn't actually affect supply or demand. If no one used autobuy/sell, and posted their bids and asks at the same current bid/ask price, then nothing would ever sell.
The action of buying or selling automatically via the trade tab as opposed to the market tab does not, on its own, increase or decrease CE price. It all has to do with HOW MANY people are selling, and how many people are buying. If a lot of people are selling, and a lower number are buying, the price goes down; price goes up if it's the opposite. We will not include discussion of severe overbids or undercuts here because relatively speaking those are anomalies and get ironed out of the system rather quickly.
