What would you think would be useful to record Spiral Knights tutorials?
What screencasting software do you use for SK?
Fraps limits the length of the clip to 30 sec.
Xfire does not do that but sometimes the quality just flat out sux.
Also, what kind of tutorial are you making :P?
I use Hypercam
There are no problems except quality but that can EASILY be adjusted
O BTW its free and MUCH easier to use than the ones listed above. I've tried tham before.

P.S isnt the Rescue Camp thing at the start already a tutorial? :P
I use Fraps; paid for it ages back. Not a bad investment considering I've used it on and off fore more than a few years now.
Care to elaborate on the Xfire thing? I've not had anything but good results from it, but I have not taken that many videos, truth be told. I also have a 1GB GPU and an i7 with 8GB of RAM, which may count for something?
What will help the most with screen recording is to have a separate hard disk from the main OS drive to save your video to while recording. Otherwise you can run into a performance barrier with write speed.
Just about any 7200prm non-eco/green drive will work for resolutions up to 1920x1200. The Other specs you listed will certainly help in making things painless.
As for Xfire... never used it.
Speaking of that...I have the daddy of all monitors, and capture at 1/2 resolution, that may help a tab bit as well (2560x1440) 27" I also didn't think about the write speed of the drive, mine's good, but I shift some things through a Firewire connection, which I imagine could be a problem.
I have yet to try Fraps, heard good things about it, but...I see no point when Xfire has my friends and is free.
I just use Camstudio (2.0 or 2.5, not much difference really). Gotta adjust some settings though. It's really not meant for game recording. I don't really have horrible results though

(Don't watch the whole video, its just to show that it can work.
