Do you believe that the CE prices in Spiral knights are too high? Obviously yes. The prices are reaching 7,000 crowns and still raising. Unfortunately the Spiral Knights people have not recently reset the price and has been making players spending massive amounts of money. I also believe that Spiral Knights has been making crowns useless and making CE the more important and more used currency. CE has been forcing players to use money on this game and making many people angry. Spiral Knights has also lied about many other things such as updates and so forth. Please help the Spiral Knights community and make other players happier by reducing the prices by supporting this post. Thanks...
CE prices in Spiral knights?
This kinds of threads will continue as long as the CE exchange rate is one of the most annoying things for a large percentage of players. If you don't like these threads, you need to either single handedly convince a few thousand people that there isn't a problem, or convince OOO that there is.
OOO can't reduce the prices. THe prices are set by the players, either buy some CE or wait and see what happens when CE gets too high and the mojority of players stop buying large amounts of it.
To OOO there isn't a problem, why care about people who don't buy energy? Unless you do spend real $$$ on this game and your deciding to buy CE with crowns, which most people who buy CE don't really need to use their crowns to buy more. They should change this game to a subscription based game, out goes our CE complaining threads.
Prices are going down 5 hours ago, last I checked...
Is this going to continue?
you need to either single handedly convince a few thousand people that there isn't a problem
You overestimate how many people browse the forums.
They should change this game to a subscription based game, out goes our CE complaining threads.
And a good portion of the playerbase. It's the WoW effect; I cannot recall where I read the article but it boiled down to persons will only stay subscribed to a single game a month and that game will most likely be WoW. It's why the free to play with micro-transactions model became popular.
To get new players, CE should be stacking at ~5k for them. New players fun is everything they need, because old players have all the equip they need...
So it's also a problem to OOO.
OOO can decrease the prizes like they did to the UV market thing. Everyone wanted them NOW! So they sold and sold and sold and the Price went down form 8k to 5k.
There is upcoming a new change about the UV market. I guess the price will fall to 5.5k or 6k. Just sold all my energy for 7k ;) even if i would buy it now back i would get money, so i did for 6.4k and sold it again for 6.7 kekeke :D note that you pay 2% trade price (= 130~ atm)
Who is to say that 7k is too high or low? This is a brand new economy that will constantly move due to many factors before it settles on a norm. Released in what, April? June or July brought about Steam integration which brought Spiral Knights to many, many new eyeballs. The biggest thing with the Steam launch was the Team Fortress hat offer. Many many players came for the hat, hell, I have 2 accounts, pre-Steam and post. I got my hat and decided to stay this time. This was a big reason for the 3-4k energy price at the time. We have had several events, updates and additions to the game that all effect the economy, some minor, some major.
Point is, nobody knows what the median energy price will be, it's still to early to tell. There may be player written guides on how to get and stay profitable but each and every one if those is based on old information. There is no 'rule' stating that you should be able to run a gate, use your earnings off that to buy more and play forever, but it was there once and now everyone feels entitled. The old rules are not the new rules, materials? Everyone is trying to sell them. Crafting accounts? Everyone has one or two, yet plenty of people are able to play almost constantly. Figure out where YOUR deficiency is and fix it. Crying or pointing the finger at OOO just makes you look like a tool.
The game requires money or time. Pick one. No time on the forums complaining doesn't count.
@ sterlingd
we can say if it's too high. it's too high if it costs you more to play a run than you get. If you don't do some T3 arena only runs you lose money instead of gain some. also newb's have no chance to get money by playing. they can do one run every day. sure OOO needs paying players, but who will pay for something if he sees that he not even can play one day long? i think they should give newcomers more energy in the begin.
Well, I actually created an account just to comment on this (I'm a steam player).
I have been playing f2p since about the second week this was launched on steam. After one day of playing, I realised that energy management was a key element of the game, and since then at NO POINT have I been unable to play due to to lack of energy. I have also managed to craft a full set of 5* gear, have a selection of 5* weapons to choose from, and cover the cost of my two extra weapon slots & two trinket slots.
I do understand that it has become more difficult to make a large profit due to the increase in CE prices, but I don't think they have reached a level which is restrictive to new players. Learning that completing tiers & doing danger rooms (and all levels of arenas) is par for the course if you are going to play f2p - as in all games, understanding the mechanics is always going to help.
Also, it is still easily possible to make a profit on t1. A friend & I had a fun session two nights ago playing in all our old 0 & 1* gear through t1, and we both ended up making around a 2kcr profit from the run (it was also notable for realising how much difference the better weapons make!).
And @ Naruchico - if you dislike the system so much why do you play? It makes no sense. And also I believe personal insults are against the forum rules, and add nothing to the discussion.
Anyway, hope to see some of you in the Clockworks!
Bubba.
At NO point does it say that the game us free to play all you want. None. Zero. Nada. This entitlement is astounding. If all you got from my post was blah blah wah wah I can't play all day, maybe you need to reread it or listen to the poster above me. Resource management. Time management. You are acting like spoiled brats. Man up.
Personally I think this market model is far better than one of the other main F2P models, where you ghetto the free to play users, and charge a subscription for access to the full game map. SK is fully accessible for anyone not playing a single cent to OOO, ok they will not be able to complete everything in a few days, but given enough time (over an extended period) they will complete it. The system however is somewhat of a pyramid scheme, more advanced players can easily fun their SK habit from playing gates however new players cannot.
"But as energy prices soar, the less we can PLAY the game, and the more we have to WAIT to play the game, which in turn makes it NOT free, but simply a DEMO."
WRONG
(trias, if you read ANY of Naruchico's post, you will see he has no idea what he is talking about lol)
free to play......well, it is because you can play it for free is that simple enough for you? There many players who have not payed anything on ce and are 5*. If you are impatient, buy ce, if not play for free and wait for mist to charge.
my hat is 2 sharks, your argument is invalid.
if you seriously think prices are too high then actually buy it using money its more stable and also its not like your using your own money too buy it you dont set the price the buyers do. if you have a problem with the crowns buy 750 crystal energy for about 3 buck (OoO) *GASP* it costs less than a burger!!!(well at least at five guys anyway)(also not including mcdonalds dollar meals(that give you mccancer!!!!))so you've learned your lesson right? so go out there and buy yourself a longboard
Okay for one, I play the game because I love the game, don't get me wrong its a wonderful game and I take no hate for OOO making a great game, its the marketing model I am not fond of.
to me Free-to-Play means just that, I get to play the GAME-PLAY aspect of the game as much as I want at no cost.
the difference between that and spiral knights is simple, I don't get to play the game-play as much as I want I get 100 free energy or 10 levels a day free, and if the CE prices go above the ability to gain crowns to buy CE, it is no longer free for me to keep going.
I understand it's possible to earn the crowns, but if the prices keep rising it will continually turn into the trade of, better gear or game-time.
It is Impatience that is making me angry, but to say I am impatient to keep going down to the clockworks to take part in the GAME-PLAY aspect should say something about its claim as a "Free-To-Play" let me emphasize this again Free....to......PLAY....PLAY<----......--->PLAY<----.
It's untrue, its not free-to-play.
You have tons of limitations on the ability to PLAY....--->PLAY<---
The fact that all the content is free, means nothing.
you can in fact say a 60 minute "Free Trial" is also a "Free-To-Play" game, you have 60 minutes that you can go as far as you can make it without any content locked, until your time is up.
But in SK they just give you 10 levels a day free, so its really a "Daily Free Trial"
If you want to Insult my understanding, then state why I don't understand it, and don't waste my time with Dribble about mist making it a "Free-To-Play" because if that is so then Big Fish Games has 1001 Free to play games and they all say "60 minute free trial" only thing Spiral Knights did was add "60 minute Free Trial-Daily"
"To OOO there isn't a problem, why care about people who don't buy energy?"
They may agree that it isn't currently a problem, but I'd be surprised if they are as short-sighted as you make it. If they did not care about people who do not buy energy, why bother with ME, why bother with crown sinks? Ultimately they want/need P2P players. However F2P players can bring in new players who may turn P2P. If CE is too cheap, then less people will need to bother going P2P (not good for them). If CE is too expensive, then they will lose potential players (F2P and potential P2P). The market can self-adjust to a degree (a surge of F2P player will increase demand for CE -> price; an exodus of F2P will similarly decrease demand*).
*That said, it's not 1:1, the game doesn't stop for people who have all 5*, and those will have a greater purchasing power to "stock up". Hence the necessity for crown sinks.
It's not TOO bad at the moment, i'd definitely prefer it to be lower as i've got masses of 4* gear but just haven't bothered with 5* yet as its a tad pricey. Also to whomever said it, OOO do and would be stupid not to..care about F2P players, for a few obvious reasons. I won't get into it but heres an example, out of the three friends i've got to play SK as a F2P player 2 of them now buy CE
1. Use your mist to do runs = MAX profits
2. Use mist to craft when you can again = MAX profits.
3 grind the good levels to earn crowns.
4 If you don't have patience then use $$$ to buy CE.... easy.
5. Il tell you my way of being able to play without worrying about energy prices..... Get lucky off of a pure luck craft I made a Leviathan CTR VH sold it 20k CE been playing comfortably ever since and even made 2 more knights to experiment.
but i realize everyone isn't lucky there is people who are the opposite of lucky like me im unlucky thats why i saw it and freaked out
I've never spent $$$ on this game so im a f2p who is rich
I decided that there were many people with this kind of CE forum and thought that this should join the CE petition groups.
I decided that your petitions don't mean diddly and will amount to nothing.
The forums represent too small a portion of the userbase for it to be effective.
He/she does have a point. I'll say that much on this topic.
