The higher the tier the longer the fire stream is. If you charge it up you can create a fireball. I'd buy it.

I like the idea, but the
I like the idea, but the design of the actual flamethrower graphic would have to be very, very carefully considered. They couldn't just re-use the Gremlin/Red Rover firestream effect. Look at the projectiles that we already have - even when they have similar effects, player shots are clearly distinct from enemy shots. This is so players can immediately tell what's dangerous and what's friendly ordinance during hectic fights.
So a player flamethrower would have to look different enough from the existing enemy flamer to be instantly differentiated on the battlefield, else players will end up needlessly dodging friendly fire (potentially putting themselves in danger) or perhaps even ignoring enemy fire in some situations (pretty sure I don't need to explain why that's a bad thing). A simple colour change wouldn't do; Three Rings would have to come up with a flame image that's clearly fire, but visually distinct from the fire effects they've already got.

I agree with the change of effect, perhaps the charge could be to create a blob of lava which leaves a patch like the FSC fire, for a sort amount of time?

Why have a flamethrower
Why have a flamethrower though, when the final boss is fire based? I vote new boss first, then negociate this.

Pepperbox?
We already have a flamethrower analogue; it's called a Pepperbox. Fire-causing damage in a short-range, relatively high-damage spread is identical to what the Pepperbox line already does. It's not called a flamethrower, but that's basically what it is. I own the Volcanic version, and it's a blast.
Besides, leaving danger zones on the ground is something for bombers to do, not gunners. I don't think that blurring the lines between roles is a good idea for a game with so few roles to begin with.

I suppose the Flamethrower
I suppose the Flamethrower discussed here would combine functions of the Pepperbox and Blaster lines; the regular attack would be comparable to the Pepperbox (short-range, high-concentration Fire damage), with a Blaster-esque fireball charge for range. Damage output would have to be carefully balanced, but I do think there's room for a weapon like this.
Plus, well, I don't really like bringing this sort of thing up in weapon suggestion threads, but...Flamethrowers could look so excellent if handled sensitively.

The flamethrower should have strong fire and always cause.It's damage should be low maybe 3 bars of damage?I say there should be a line.We need to figure out the line then say if it should be added.

Pepperbox/Flametrower lines
i think that theres no need to put a new line, just get a fiery pepperbox an then split the pepperbox line in 2 paths, Flametrower or volcanic pepperbox, or maybe intead of fiery add anoher such as the flametrower and then fiery flametrower? Idk but i think it should be mixed with the pepperbox since the pepperbox IS a flametrower ( just it shoots fireballs not a stream of fire, but of fireballs) i own a fiery pepperbox and i want this to be implented cuz i like what the pepperbox does , i wanna se a new type of autogun (:
If there was a flamethrower gun I'd imagine the gremlin pyro's torch would be what it's based on.
You'd have slow elemental Catalyzer-like bullets as the normal shots and a stream of fire that does minor damage and fire in a similar fashion to an Ash of Agni as the charge.
