Just curious.
Me: I was browsing around the internet looking for a F2P browser game and stumbled across Spiral Knights while it was in closed beta, I checked the website every so often to see when they would release it. The rest is history.

Saw it in a top ten best ated f2p mmorpg category.
I've actually known about this game for a little over a year. Sadly I missed my chance for the beta, and forgot about it until I noticed it on steam.
Random tweet from either Sega or Segabits (I think I saw a beta key from Sega but I ended up getting it from Segabits). I think I only gave it a try because I was going like...COOL I can be one of THOSE beta players for a game XD
Was playing Team Fortress 2 on Steam at my friends house. Noticed there were two games in his library.
Saw Spiral Knights in there. Tried it. Loved it.
There was quite a bit of advertising for Spiral Knights on Penny Arcade. That was a while ago, and I didn't actually check out the game that time. I was a bit weary of MMOs at the time. Still, it lingered with me. Especially the look of the knights. They were cute, you know.
One day out of boredom, I decided to Google Spiral Knights. I tried it out, finally figured out how to link my account to Steam, and after that I haven't looked back.
It really surprised me that Three Rings was the developer of this game. I played Puzzle Pirates back in 2004 and loved it. If I remember correctly, there was only a subscription option back then and it wasn't free-to-play, though there was a week trial. I'm really impressed by the design team's versatility.
You got to PP just a year too early. In 2005 OOO came out with the doubloon oceans, which are completely free to play and you can do whatever you want. There is still subscription oceans but they are losing population. FYI doubloon system is like our CE system except it is about 1.6k for each doubloon.

I've been reading TPS for a long time.
i was on a website (infoplease.com, i think.) and on the top of the page was an ad for Spiral Knights. Checked it out, watched the trailer about 10000 times, got EXTREMELY TOTALLY ADDICTED TO START PLAYING SPIRAL KNIGHTS DUE TO TRAILER EPICNESS.
then played. =D
I saw it in some article on yahoo's front page, it was rated the best free to play game.
Steam F2P.
Was both cute and mac compatible, so i tried it out.
I had no idea about SK until it was launched on Steam. Darn...
Um... Ponychan, when the game was officially released.
I got it because it looked so awesome /)^3^(\
January 2010 when somebody mentioned it on a forum I frequented at the time.
Maybe it's just that I haven't read all the words of every post, but it seems I'm the only one from miniclip. Miniclip is a online game website, thousands of games on it. Man, once SK popped out on there, I was hooked.
my sis told me about it lol
i was playing pokemon tower defnse and they showed me SK...
now when i play pokemon tower defense there are SK commercials everywhere....
Saw it on GameOgre.com
Great site for beta keys to some of the newest games
Someone spouted about it on the forums of another OOO game. I went onto facebook and griped about not being able to get into beta. Suddenly a friend sent me an invite! <3
I saw the steam news when announced it, and watched the trailer. The music and the 4 seconds of Vanaduke sold me on it.
I found it out on both:
1: The Something Awful Forums
and 2: via both Shawnster and Cloesy
It was featured on a article about cool online games. I was bored so I tried it. Now I'm forever indebt with yahoo.
Friend on steam told me to play. Once he said it was free I started the download. X3
I was invited to the second-to-last Preview Event by my boyfriend and had played that as well as the last Preview that led up to the full release.
I was reading Three Panel Soul and saw the comic that had Ian drawing the prototype jelly, and the amusing comic about bomb discussion on public transport. It reminded me of the game Whirled I played a little. He also put up a link in TPS about the upcoming SK game, but it was pre-beta. I promptly forgot about it until release and advertising brought me back. I was happy to see it was OOO, who made Puzzle Pirates,, the game my wife and I were addicted to in 2006.
ZOMB FREE TF2 HAT
Yeah thats pretty much it
On Linux4unme's channel, he downloaded the SK "trailer" and put it on his own channel, and from there I started playing with me and my bro, it had chat, so it was good for MMO.
3 months ago, I also heard about it later from PC-Mech and something else...
My older brother found out about it from the Blockland forums. Then he signed up for the newsletter, and got in the beta. Then he invited me. I've never played any other MMO since.
First heard about it, then signed up, from an arstechnica.com post, played, but never got past Haven, forgot about it until the Steam launch, then picked it back up, couldn't remember old login, and started a new d00d.
I had long been planning on going to play Uncharted Waters Online whenever I ended up quitting Champions Online. When I got tired of CO, I went back and played Civilization IV for a few weeks. Then I went and downloaded UWO, and then thought, hmm, I haven't heard from Three Rings in a while, and Puzzle Pirates was pretty good. Let's see what they're up to. I went to the Three Rings web page and Spiral Knights looked interesting, so I decided to try it.
That's right. The first I heard of this game was on the Three Rings web site, and I found it on Google rather than following a link that someone else provided. And yes, this was substantially after the game launched.
I actually prefer subscription games to "free to play". But game mechanics are more important than the business model, unless it's a really bad business model that basically amounts to, whoever pays the most wins.
ICQ message with link by a friend while trying out the Forsaken World Beta.
Then watched the teaser video multiple times and followed it until public release.
I played it mainly because I liked the idea which reminded me so much of PSO.
A thread from the Sega forums. The mods were giving out the last keys for beta and I figure I'd give it a shot.
I've been playing PSU beforehand and I think that's what section of the forums I saw it in. (Probably dead by now :P)
Three Panel Soul forever <3
That is all :)
Friend at church summer camp told me about it.I so far enjoyed it
Someone posted a fan art on some website. So I thought, I should check the game out.
My girlfriend happens to be really great friends with the spouse of a Ringer. A sort of grapevine effect.
...so I tried it.
And no, I wasn't a TF2 player, so the free hat didn't matter.
at yahoo. Seeing top free online games. So decided to try it out.
I only came for the free hat!
And then I stayed...
Have been playing another Three Rings Game for oh..Six years now, and a friend happened to say hey, have you seen this new game OOO has coming out? Here is the link to twitter they are giving away free preview accounts! Started playing immediately and really liked it.
