I'm walking down the arcade, feeling pretty good after just finishing an awesome JK run with an awesome group of people. Out
of nowhere, I am disconnected from the server followed by a notice that says my name cannot be inappropriate (my IGN was "phackingsupah" btw).
Upon logging back in, I discover my new awesome name, "Randomname-Qhbd". I wasn't really upset, but I was very surprised that they didn't at least give me some sort of warning beforehand, or at the very least, let me change my name to something else. I decide to just ignore the whole thing and be on my way for another JK run. But before I get to the lift, a player runs by me, a player with the name "Deeznutz". Really now?
Wow...
yeah that made me laugh a bit. But hopefully you can submit a request to get your name changed to something you want instead.
maybe they thought your name sounded like "fu**ing supah." cause it does, except the "u" sounds like an "a"
Although it may have been what N3cr0 said, it could also have been that it had "hacking" in it. I'd be careful.
Mr. Dee Z. Nutz is an honorable and respectable member of haven's upper class....
They did warn you in the Terms of Service that you agreed to have read before creating your account.
7. Names. In creating your character in Spiral Knights we ask that you use names appropriate for the setting. Do not use names that violate these terms, that might be offensive to other players, or that include copyright or trademark characters or products. Avoid names that are from or imply popular media and culture. Three Rings will arbitrarily change any names it considers unsuitable, or ban the accounts associated. Other than in these circumstances, names will not generally be changed.
Yes, I am very grateful to OOO for not banning my account, but I'm just surprised about how:
1. I wasn't given an option to change my name to something more "appropriate".
2. Someone waltzes through the exact same spot I was caught (about 30 seconds later) and doesn't seem to have any problems...
You are not the first this has happened to. They change the name because it is against TOS they aren't going to sit there waiting for you to respond, while you go on violating TOS. All you have to do is contact them they should allow you to change it to something else.
Anyhow, they changed your name and not the guy's who waltzed right passed you is because someone must have sent a complaint in about your name but not one about the other guy's name. It's unlikely the GMs saw you. They probably saw the complaint, confirmed that it was your name and then changed it.
LOL
