i like medium speed weapons
whats best slow or medium speed swords or quick speed swordss (reaad the swordmaster guide in wiki if you dont understand me)
Buy a Brandish, Troika and Cutter... see where that takes you...
atm im leveling my huntin blade to 10 lvl. As soon as it hits 10 ill make it Wild Huntin blade for 2 reasons.1st- I love those epic golden phantasmal wolvers comin out of the air when you swing that sword. 2nd - I love fast swords. ^^
I echo FernPanda's suggestion that you try slow, medium, and fast swords. This is part of the fun of the game --- to "feel" the sword, and to see how your playing style adapts. I agree with AuraX that Cutter-line swords are fun. However, I strongly advise you not to go for WHB. Dread Venom Striker is a pretty weak sword, and even it's much better than WHB, except against beasts --- and against beasts there are much better swords than WHB.
There has been no mention of damage type here, although it's the most important consideration in choosing a sword or gun. You want a piercing weapon, an elemental weapon, and a shadow weapon. Depending on the stratum, carry two of them (or all three) and use them on the correct monsters. Maybe that's what Culture meant, about the best choice being situational.
So if you're into medium swords, consider one of the Brandishes (Combuster, Glacius, Voltedge) for your elemental sword, Acheron for your shadow sword, and either Final Flourish or Barbarous Thorn Blade for your piercing sword.
Yeah, trying different swords out is the only way to answer that question. 3 hitters vs 2 hitters vs 5(10) hitters is a personal preference.
I solo a lot and the Calibur line works the best for me (because of the 360 3x hit charge). While the Cal is what I am most effective with, I love the heavy 2 swing swords. They are just fun to use. I personally am not a fan of the cutter line; they are great (probably the best) vs a single target, but their small hit arc makes them less conducive to crowd control (that and the charge attack takes years to complete). While you are trying different 2* and 3* swords out go ahead and earn yourself a Snarble Barb and give the piercing swords a go too(just don't take this as your only sword).
Customize your loadout to enhance your sword. If you have a slow heavy sword ASI really helps (Swiftstrike Buckler, Elite Quick Strike Module, Vog Cub Set, UV). If you have a sword that is already pretty fast then Damage bonus is the way to go (Barbarous Thorn Shield, Elite Slash Module, Skolver Set, UV). Also, if your sword has a particularly juicy charge attack then you may want to invest in CTR (Elite Sword Focus Module, UV).
There is no absolute best, the best is situational.
