Spiral Knights needs some new end game content! Recently the content updates have made a lot of veteran players very bored (Snarbolax, Roarmulus). I have been playing Spiral Knights for almost a year and am one of the oldest players still playing today. I have watched THOUSANDS, i'm not pulling your leg here, THOUSANDS of guildmates and friends quit because they got bored of Vanaduke and Firestorm. We need some new content that gives us new gear, new materials, new bosses, new depths, new recipes, etc. etc. etc. I'm sure this would make current veteran players very interested in the game, as most of us (who do spend a ridiculous of money on this game when we are having fun) are bored as all hell. This update would also bring back MASSIVE amounts of players who have quit, as I see people from beta log on every now and then to see if there are any new updates and then send me a PM about it. I tell them we are still waiting with crossed fingers! These updates would fuel energy buying so much that you wouldn't NEED to have 800 energy to craft a 5* item. These updates would also make newer players go... "oohhh look at him in his awesome shiny gear from tier 4 that looks so awesome I cant wait until I can get there im gonna buy tons of energy to get there faster yippie!" Stop
My Suggestion:
What I would really like to see, is 5* gear brought down to 400 energy to craft, and all of the unbinding costs dropped, especially the 4 and 5 star, that way 6 star gear can be released and cost 800 energy to craft and 4000 to unbind. I don't see OOO doing this so here goes my suggestion:
Introduce a new gate that goes down from the core and switches every 24 hours. The gate will have random levels of "Tier 4" and will be much harder than tier 3. The levels will also have 4 new "before-a-boss" like levels with a new boss at the 5th level. There would be a recipe vendor much like the one in haven, moorcraft, and emberlight that sells "basic" 6star items such as: 6star blaster, calibur, helm, shield, armor, bomb, etc. I think thse should only be obtainable from the vendor at the core though, just to make it harder to acquire all of them to make it take longer to get into tier 4 (this is how you keep people playing). These recipes should cost more energy than 5 star ones by quite a bit, ideally you reduce 5 star down to 400 energy and make these cost 800 energy. These would also cost multiple 5 star materials, such as 2 flame souls and a primal ore plus a bunch of lower star materials as well as crowns and energy. You could make it so you need part or full 6 star items to get into tier 4. Then in tier 4 you could make a terminal with a basil that sells more and less basic 6 star gear that costs 6 star materials to craft (which would only drop in tier 4).
Also on a side-note, items should have numerical values on stats, not bars.
This sounds like a great plan. I would love to see something like this go in but sadly i don't see it happening.
