Hi

Sounds like you have crafted a unique variant.

If that is indeed the case, then yes, you have crafted a special version of the weapon. When you craft an item there is a small chance that you will create a unique variant (UV). UV's give the weapon special bonuses in addition to their normal attributes.

When you upgrade the item, you can choose to either keep the UV you have, or craft as if it wasn't there, which gives you the chance of getting a different UV (not guaranteed).

Hope that helps :)

Ordinarily I think people

Ordinarily I think people would say that it depends on what the UV is, but both the frost gun and wrench wand can't be crafted up to a higher level, so I'm afraid you're not going to be able to sell them for much. Same thing with the shield: depends on what the UV is, and whether it can be crafted into something better.

What kind of dmg def uv does defender have?

The hood is the most valuable, but worth keeping.

The magic hood in particular, with max stun, will work up into a wonderful grey feather mantle over time. The grey feather mantle is a good helmet anyway, but its one weakness is to stun. With maximum stun defense, that weakness will be eliminated and it will be a great helmet. You could probably sell the magic hood for a decent amount, but I'd keep it and use it.

Thanks so much for your help people! I unbinded the zapper today and put it auction, i found out it had a low bonous against construct, i bought the defender from an auction actually for only 2000cr and made everthing else, thanks again, check out the auction for the zapper too, its a good gun for its current price!
so, sounds as if I have an awesome mix of stuff atm, so glad you all could help!

So, as far as upgrading items

So, as far as upgrading items with variants, I've got a tempered calibur with low damage bonus to slime and gremlins, and a twisted targe with max stun resist.

I'm planning on upgrading the calibur to cold iron 5* and the targe to its 5*. Are the variants worth keeping, or should I upgrade them with the chance to get something else? If get something else, what should I look for on them?

Keep the stun, lose the damage bonus.

Max stun on the targe is good, because it'll offer extra protection against lumbers. Tier 2 lumbers can break a Dark Thorn Shield (the 4* version) in one hit, so extra protection against them will be useful. Other people may say that lumbers are easy to dodge (and they are), but for the rare time you mistime that dodge, getting hit will hurt a lot. A maximum resist is uncommon enough that it's almost always worth keeping, because you're highly unlikely to get anything better.

Low damage bonuses on weapons definitely aren't worthwhile. A low damage bonus is only worth about 5% more damage, so it almost certainly won't lower the number of hits it takes to kill anything. I'd reroll that one in hopes of getting CTR, ASI, or Medium+ damage.
