Why stop at the helmet and armor with costumes?

Why not make costume weapons, and shields?

I purpose this because I kinda hate the look of the barbarous thorn shield. I like its boost (no duh) but I prefer a frostier shield to fit my theme. And If I can't get a frosty shield with the same boost, can I just cover one up with the other?

weapons also have a fun potential.

Imagine making costume weapons that showcase other game themes? maybe a Team fortress 2 scout baseball bat for swords?

+1 for this. I personally

+1 for this. I personally really like the look of the Searing Edge and Shocking Edge swords, but given they cap out at 2* I can't really enjoy them now.

On the shield side, it seems almost pointless to include the Green Ward in the starter pack when you'd use it for all of 5 minutes before buying something better. I never bought the starter pack myself, but I wouldn't mind using the Scarlet Shield as a costume shield.

Some costume weapon

Some costume weapon combinations would look bad unless there are weapon specific costumes: a troika for example, is completely different than a flourish.

But maybe taking a look at maple-story's costume system might be a good idea?
heck we've already got costumes for 50%
why not go the rest of the way?

Yhea, weapon costumes are

Yhea, weapon costumes are gonna be a pain in the but. Guy's holding a shivermist above his head; allies cheer for the suppourt fire. Then it goes off, and BOOM flying jelly everywhere, peging everyone in the face. Gee, wonder how an ice bomb knocked people back. Ohh! It was a nitrome.
Sheild costumes are ok, assuming the knockback dosent change between sheilds, but having weapon costumes is a cluster-fail.

The problem with changing

The problem with changing colours on equipment is that 90% of SK's equipment content comprises recoloured versions of older gear; less so with shields, but it's endemic to armour and helms. The only really safe way to do it would be to allow for Personal Colour changing, which has come up repeatedly before (and which I personally think's a great idea).

More options for visual customisation are always welcome, but I don't like the idea of purely cosmetic shields; have you never been on, say, a Vanaduke run where you've been kicked for having 4* gear? Shields and weapons can be the only immediate visual markers of a player's general equipment level. I'd definitely welcome more options for shields, like perhaps changeable decals or something, but substituting them entirely for different ones, not so much.

LeQuack's right, costume weapons is asking for trouble, and besides would lead to some ridiculous-looking combos; Knights swinging Troikas as fast as Flourishes, Proto Guns that inexplicably shoot Autogun bursts &c. Sounds hilarious at first, but it'd quickly become irritating, even in those situations where it wasn't actively tactically harmful.

I say no to the "costume

I say no to the "costume shields/weapons" things unless it's to a limited extent, like a slightly different shield decal or an alt-coloration/design for a weapon that won't cause a lot of confusion.

Fr'instance instead of a fuschia/lavender shadowtech alchemer how about a black/indigo one? I don't think that one won't cause much trouble. Nor would a pink Calibur.

+1 shilds -1 wepons

for weapons it'd only work if it was same type of weapon [2 swing 3 swing an so on] so no DA on leviathan or no final florish on wild hunting blade same for guns and bombs [witch thare are 2 types of vapor and blast] but shields would work because all work the same

Green Ward

ive been thinking about purchasing the starter pack for the Green Ward shield and the energy, but i REALLY don't want or need the stats. If costume shiels would come out, id buy it the instant i could.

Also, costume weapons would be a little glitchy and their range wouldn't look correct on some setups

Given all of the accessories, etc, etc...

It's time for costume shields.

Many people are customizing their looks and given that you can costume shield helm and armor... a costume shield is not unreasonable.

People will spend the CE to make a costume shield to match the rest of their costume get up.

OOO - DO EEEET!!

(kittens may even be happy!)

Jacobey

(advantage - this will cost you about $0.08 to code!)
((2nd advantage - every 2nd knight won't be running around with an owl shield! :P ))
