So, I crafted this unique Calibur with Damage bonus vs Undead: Low and heard that when you upgrade your items you can keep the unique variant you have. And then I remembered Cold Iron Carver.

The question is: Do they stack?

Bonuses do stack :) I read somewhere else there are limits though. I can't find that thread, perhaps you can or someone else might.

is it better to pass on a variant or should you take a gamble on getting a better variant? i saw this question posed in another thread but i didnt see an answer.. whether the 5 star variants might be better than the 4 star, the 4star better than the 3star ones.. etc. i mean the variant stats, not the weapon overall.

I'd say keep the variant. If you really don't like it, my advice is to upgrade the item, then sell it to someone else. (The crowns and materials you get back can then be used to fund another try)

Remember:
- The chance of a variant is ~10%. Thus, the odds of NOT getting a variant during even the longest crafting process process are (0.9)^5 = ~60%.

- As far as we know, the probability of a good variant is the same regardless of what star level item you're crafting.

- The variant you throw away may be worth money to someone else. (Though it may take some work to sell it... someone who aggregated unique variants could create an interesting business model)
