Swords are great, dont get me wrong i love swords
but theres just nothing else in SK, and with everybody running around with the same few swords it starts to get a little monotonous.
For me just having swords seems a bit daft - it just restricts what everyone uses and severely hampers the aesthetics of the game
for you see, whenever i go down to do a strata of jelly or gremlin with friends, guildies or randoms everybody pulls out 1 of 2 weapons, acheron or GF.
Both are great wepaons, dont get me wrong i love my acheron to bits (i call her vera) but the image gets a bit stale when everybody is using one.
Hence this suggestion - new weapon types in the form of axes and hammers. these two in particular as they require no new animations, just two or three new models, a couple of skins and stats added to the list of weapons.
So i propose 3/4 new weapons to be added, an axe or hammer for each damage type, possibly ignoring pierce as axes and hammers dont really lend themselves to piercing attacks.
Imagine if you will descending to a strata of jelly and having a group pull out an acheron, a GF and a shadow damage axe(for some reason i have the name lunar axe stuck in my mind for this particular type)
the acheron attacks fastest with a 3 hit combo, the GF the slowest with its lumbering but destructive 2 hit combo and the axe sits nicely in the middle, a 3 hit combo using exactly the same animations as the acheron, albeit slowed down slightly, and dealing just a little more damage (I have in mind that axes use the standard 3 hit sword combo but effectively have attack speed decrease low/medium and attack damage increase low applied to them... oh and maybe a different charge attack but hey thats not up to me is it)
so there we have it, weapons which add no real new game play content but will add a huge visual variety, (they're the same as swords they just look a little different - which is great IMO, variety is the spice of persistent Massively Multiplayer Online Games as they say)
so basically its an aesthetic request - more variety will probably also encourage people to get more weapons, there are those that wish to acquire all the weapons, even if they're basically the same
Better idea: just add better alchemy lines for the Slime Slasher (shadow damage with the shovel model), Beast Basher (Piercing damage with the pickaxe model), and Heavy Hatchet (elemental damage with the hatchet model).
I mean, who wouldn't want to go ruckus up the Royal Jelly while doing an impression of The Shoveler?
