I'm curious about the Boltbrand line. For some reason, it caught my eye when I logged into SK this afternoon. This is just a few questions for the Boltbrand users. Is it a reliable weapon? Does the shock inflicted on enemies spread to you and your allies? Would you recommend it for all-around use(except for beasts and gremlins of course)?
Boltbrand Line worth it?
1. Is it a reliable weapon?
If you use charge attack, inflicting status is very reliable. Normal attack, not so much.
2. Does the shock inflicted on enemies spread to you and your allies?
Yes. It isn't usually a problem if you use charge attack as it has some knockback.
3. Would you recommend it for all-around use(except for beasts and gremlins of course)?
Shock is a good status and generally safe if you can knockback your enemies and not into your buddies. If it's your only elemental sword of course. But compared to the Divine Avenger and Glacius and Combuster... which are way easier to get and upgrade... are you willing to spend hours in Blast Network (and maybe Krogmo boosters) for a cool novelty item?
@Panda
Lockdown is coming soon. Coins there. Earlier today testing, I used all 6 boosters, when it got filled to everyone-3 coins, I got 15+ coins that match I believe. :D
I use the Boltbrand and would strongly recommend it. It is my first four star weapon so I don't have too much to compare it to, but I find it does well against almost all units and the charge attack inflicts shock on all enemies nearby. I often use the charge attack since it can often one hit kill enemies, or if the strike of the charge attack doesn't the secondary explosion sometimes will finish of a unit. I haven't noticed the shock spreading to me or my allies, but my method tends to be charge, attack and immediately kill or in arenas if there are a lot of units chasing me, charge, attack, run, charge, attack, run, repeat.
As a secondary weapon you might want to consider a flourish. It does really well against beasts, and fiends (although the boltbrand isn't too bad againts them). Gremlins you probably won't encounter too often anyways. The first attack of the flourish covers a larger area than the boltbrand and the charge attack with a little practice can be really effective (think it does double normal damage, but it often puts you in the middle of an enemy group). I love lining up a large group of fiends behind a closed door waiting for someone else to open it then taking almost all of them out.
I posted the following in another thread, but I think it applies here as well. Some advice I read on the forums was trying out the 3 star versions of the swords to compare. I did that and found the iceburst brandish very frustrating to use in a group. Soloing I am sure it would be very useful, but most damage is done when a unit unfreezes and most of the time your allies will break the freeze almost as soon as it happens making the bonus of a charge attack pretty useless. This may get better as you get into later tiers and users are more knowledgable. Fireburst brandish I didn't give as much time to try out, but for some reason the status effect didn't seem to happen as reliably to nearby units as with the shockbust brandish and I was thinking down the road to FSC. I like the Boltbrand because it is sort of a hybrid of the two other swords not quite as good at damage over time or impairing movement, but does both fairly well, the spreading shock is also pretty cool. I have also read if you attack an enemy that is receiving a residual shock from your attack they receive greater damage, so maybe there is a little bit of the status of poison mixed in there too.
I try to use the charge attack as much as possible, especially in an arena with a large group chasing you and the secondary explosion I have shocked most of the group without getting hit (although I am sure the same could be said of the other options).
Another consideration is whether you want to put in the time (and money lost) playing Blast Network to get the coins.
I've got a Boltbrand and I'm pretty happy with it. One thing to keep in mind is that Shockburst Brandishes are reasonably cheap on the AH so you can save yourself farming 50 lag-network tokens and just skip straight to the 4* recipe. (I only wish I'd thought of that before I bought the electron charge recipe...)
I usually dive with two swords. My current stash of 4*s is the Boltbrand, a Silent Nightblade, and a Dark Thorn Blade, and I generally pick whichever two the current stratum isn't resistant to. I've never really felt let down by it in any meaningful way.
Well, I am an Avenger user, but I'd like more of a challenge with every depth rather than just a 2-swing knockout. The Avenger is very useful, but I've grown it to the point where I find the repetive sword use bland. So I thought of changing it up a little bit. In case if you want my loadout info:
Ash Tail Cap
Ash Tail Coat
Horned Owlite/Dark Thorn/Heavy Plate Shield
Ascended Calibur
Faust
Avenger
Thanks for the information in advance. And another question, how much is the dps (users)?
I've found that I can generally do, (against the boxes in the training hall) 38-38-50, but the charge attack does 71. Of course, mine is only at level 6, so I wouldn't take that as the damage it can actually do. However, against undead, I can be doing over 100 per hit, and the charge generally does 200-300, depending on the enemy. Once again, only level 6, so this might not be a great example.
And I do love going Boltbrand and swift flourish, the flourish taking care of beasts an fiends, and the boltbrand doing massive damage and shock to everything else. I especially found boltbrand useful vs large enemies, you charge up, hit them, run and charge while the shock slows them down, hit them, run and charge, and repeat. So when I'm soloing one of the huge lichen thingies, I always do that strat. And the explosion that actually shocks the enemies has a chance of of double exploding, generally doing 20 damage per explosion.
All that being said, I have never shocked my allies, and I've never seen it being done.
Oh, and if you wanted to buy one, I have one with UV vs undead Medium I'm willing to sell for 3.2K CE, haggling expected.
lol nobody would buy a boltbrand even if it did have a UV
great job necroing a thread for your shameless advertising
You certainly are trying... or trolling. I was not advertising, he said that he was thinking about a boltbrand so I offered one for his consideration. Unless you have something to say that is constructive, with the means to back it up, in the future please refrain from exposing us to the cramped dingy insides of the preteen brain.
Btw, I was just in the clockworks doing a jelly king run, and I was doing over 100 damage per hit with it to slimes, which take neutral damage from it. So I dont think that the damage in the training hall is indicative of what will happen when your actually diving.
...that post is 3 months old. That price is also bad, although you are welcome to try and find someone who would haggle with you.
He said if it was worth it not if he wanted one. Obviously your are nothing more than an immature kid if you are going to resort to insults and start a flame war over the FACT that you are advertising in the ARSENAL not the BAZAAR.
Once again trying, not advertising, just offering to someone who said they were looking for one. Then you jumped in and apparently didn't read the topic because your post had nothing to do with it...
I'm not trying to start a flame war, I'm just annoyed that you apparently don't have anything better to do than troll the forums.
Edit: It's not worth getting into this. Any responses from you will be ignored.
Voltedge>Glacius=Combuster
I recommened the Avenger Line over these swords, but it is your choice.
