So this is my situation:
I am building my way to a cowboy style gunslinger just for the badassness "feeling" of it (I know it [crap] efficiency-wise)
Current loadout:
Sunset Stetson ****
Sunset Dusker ****
Wise Owlite Shield ****
Acheron *****
Silversix ****
Other part:
Justifier Hat recipe
Twisted Targe ***
Mega Magnus ****
Cryodriver ** lol
Sealed Sword ***
But now I also want to be as strong a swordman as "normal" people in vog set.
Should I stray my way to swordmanship by building up a vog set from beginning and Acheron/DA/AP or continue finishing Justifier/Nameless combo with DA/Argent P / Callahan, may be try to get a Pulsar ? Not really want to go both way because it would be too money consuming.
btw I having 6600ce as initial capital (starter pack lol)
back to Swordman or continue Gunslinger?
The more I play, the more I enjoy guns. I say stick with guns as your primary weapon and have two good swords (with different elements, so make that sealed sword an avenger) to switch between as your third or 4th weapon.
Also, build up that cryotech alchemer to at least the 4* level. I'm sure you'll like it more than the silversix. Split damage stinks, and not being able to do good damage to constructs with a gun also stinks.
If you go for very high / very high gunslinger, you shouldnt even thing about carringa sword. I got 3-4 Guns and 0-1 Bomb with me. Most of the time only guns. These are:
Callahan (medium UV vs Fiend): 260 (+60 vs Fiend) / charge 400
Polaris (low UV ASI): 180 (+70 expanded bullet) / charge 400
Biohazard (medium UV CTR): 230 / charge 330 each orb
Blitz Needle (low UV CTR): 6x 165 / charge 15x 255
(dmg depends on effective mobs for ex shadow vs slime, at T28)
I prefer these guns because of their effectiveness and usefulnees as allrounder. The only weakness is if you are alone and there are coming a Wolver / Gremlin Combo in a DR. Everything else works fine.
You said "(I know it sh!t efficiency-wise)" ... whut? XD
It allways amusing again if a swordmen sayin' they deal so much dmg more than gunslingers... But in facts I've never seen a Swordmen dealing more damage than me expect in FSC against these high masses of undeads with DA. Also there not very much more.
Fact is: Swordmen deal for example 600. A Gunslinger 200. But this is just theory. In praxis its like this:
Gun: 200, 200, 200, 200, 200, 200, 200, 200, 200, 200, ...
Sword: 600, 0, 0, 0, 0, 600, 0 ,0 ,0 ,0, 600, ...
(not real numbers, just an example)
I prefer Gunslinger way over Swordsmen. I'm pretty sure it's the better way to deal with most every mob in the whole game also beeing more safety. But also it depends on manythings you have to know about the guns and how to use them. I allways could cry about gunslinger who reload, but also it's amusing they do know less than me :P
mfg :) btw. do what you want, you should have fun, even if it's not the most efficient strategy. Even mass bomb is fun :D <3
Or you could carry a sword, a gun, and a bomb all at the same time, and switch between them depending on which types of mobs you're fighting.
Thank ya all. Especially Xyonon.
Im now more confident in the path of gunslinging. (yeee-haw)
May be it's just because i'm new so I seems like take forever with gun for me.
My prospectus load-out gonna be:
Justifier Hat/Nameless Poncho
Callahan (may swap to AP in undead level run)
Hail Driver
Biohazard if i'm lucky enough
Acheron (well this katana has been a friend of mine since beginning, it's painful to part with it)
Grey owlite shield
Btw, Xyonon may I ask which shield are you using?
Gohnakai may add me ingame if you want :) glad to help!
For me i got more than one shield. I use a Justi Hat and a Nameless Poncho. So i got Normal, Perfo and Ele Def (happythatmyhadjustgainedmaxperfoatbegin<3<3<3). I got no Shadow def expect the one from the max Perfo hat (low shadow also ... yea this hat is imb :D). However i prefer A Shadow Shield in most case - Dread Skelly or Crest of Almire, but I also use my Grey Owlite. I guess if you have these 3 you have a shield for every situation - check the gates b4 you enter. For example most ppl use Owlite, Shock and Fire is great but Devilites pwn you so hard, so i prefer a Skelly there, even if it has no Fire / Shock ressi and the Devilites are like this. There are allways normal overtimer there too so ... you know what i mean :D
How many weapons are you gonna use? 4? However you shold take a Polaris with you and forget about the AP. AP is pretty pretty ... how shall isay it? Oh i know:
AP at FSC -> very effective against zombies -> deals 80, 80, 80, 80, 80, 80, reload.
Blitz Needle at FSC -> normal against zombies -> ratatatatata 6x 90 ... while you just shot about 3 shots with AP :O
AP is a NO GO for a gunlinger, just get one for fun, style or if you got enough slots (FSC you need Polaris, Blitz, Shivermist, [FREE SPACE])
btw. where are you from? I'm not english so i cant talk to you via TS or Skype whatever, unless you speak german :P Well ... a bit english should be ok. I type better than i speak XD but i wanna learn to speak anyway so ... just add me ingame for now :P
mfg ABATHUR :D
Generally you should have one each to cover all 3 types.
1. owl
2. skelly/crest
3. defender/thorn/jelly
I agree with dropping the Peacemaker unless you already have one. AP bad for gunner.
Regarding your "old friend" the Acheron, the planned Biohazard might be redundant because of that, unless your Acheron is the fourth weapon. Anyway, there are a lot of shadow-weak things I can think to use a sword on... and I'm already packing an Umbra Driver...
so AP is a terrible gun by all means (_`_!) Why do they make a gun so weak but sounds so cool. I mean the sound fx.
So my clothes gonna be Justi/Nameless/Grey owl like planned to. And will try to get a Polaris.
You prefer Blitz Needle over Callahan? Because im close to a Callahan and Blitz needle must start from beginning. (I dont have too much time a day to play so heat collecting is a pain). Also, Callahan makes me feel more like a cowboy (Yeeehaaw!)
And I am not parting with my Acheron :P I am a stubborn person. (AP can go down the sink hole ALL THE WAY)
My IGN is Oborozukiyo
I have another char name Erika-Maeda who just started swordman way.
You can guess my location from my name ;)
Yeap I reckon Biohazard deal Shadow (I thought it deal Ele/Poison)
So Biohazard plan should change to Polaris.
Blitz can be much betterthan Callahan but also can be much worse. It's pretty specific. With Callahan you're on the safe side and with Blitz you damn need some practice.
Polaris is a must have for a real gunner, it's just awesome!
Biohazard is pretty pretty strong, especially with CTR. But aslong you anyway want to carry that Shadow blade... wait with it :P
-> to do list
Polaris
Callahan
Ohhh... Staying gunner. Bad choice.
Here's what you will want though:
Blitz Needle
Polaris
Biohazard
Levi (Or any normal sword) OR, you could get a peacemaker/some other gun that you won't need.
I'm currently about to be in the process of my own set:
Barbarous Thorn Blade
Divine Avenger
Gran Faust
Supernova/Valiance/Neutralizer
All I need is The normal gun, and this set is just for running a random run, not a boss run. Although that's rare.
It was so clear that you will appear here too BigFootM :P Put the glorious Gunslingers in the shadows and stay in the bright shining light of epicness as Swordie. Typical :P However.
As Gunslinger i would not recommend any normal weapon. If you have space for a "not gun" weapon, so don't waste it for an useless sword, better get one of the usefuller bombs, like shock, freeze or poison.
mfg :)
seven posts above:
"Gohnakai may add me ingame if you want :) glad to help!"
"mfg ABATHUR :D"
:D - so ... sure you can XD
why no hybrid.. pure sword, gun, bomb sucks ( is just a imo) D:
because if you have an armor that increases XY for sowords OR guns OR bombs it sucks to be a hybrid. Thats why i never would use a sword:
Swords -> standart
Gun -> Attack Speed Very High / DMG Bonus Very High
what should i take?
Still, I'd hardly call a guy with 2-3 swords and a Polaris, or 2-3 bombs and a Leviathan a hybrid.
If they're wearing a Vog and have 2-3 guns though, I'll be left scratching my head.
The only decent hybrid I can think of are bounty hunters, such as fiend or slime killers and their armor designed specifically to counter those enemies, so they can use whatever weapon types they desire. While they can't use offensive trinkets, defense trinkets may be in their place.
Everyone's willing to make a dozen or so weapons, but only one set of armor. A true hybrid player will have multiple armor sets to go with a big pile of weapons. It's expensive to be an effective hybrid player, so it pays to focus on one specialty until you have the time and energy to work up alternate sets of armor, but alternate sets are good. Especially in tier 2, it's not too expensive to get alternate 3* sets. You could easily have a set of gunslinger, a set of dusker, and a set of fused demo to mix and match with weapons as you see fit. I have a few different 3* armor sets (but only one 5* so far) and it makes tier 2 play a lot more fun to change up my specialty each run.
I Think not, you can go only with the most important UV
Bomb: CTR
Guns: DMG
Heavy Swords: ASI
Normal Swords: DMG
And now with the new trinkets..
i just a IMO and mix set FTW i love my Volcanic demo helm + Skolver, divine veil+ Mad bomber + gun trinkets or Full mad with guns and trueshot trinkets <3
So ... gratulation. You are anywhere medium but nowhere perfect. Suboptimal in my eyes. Hybrids are more or less inefficient. Gunslingers use 3-4 guns and 0-1 bomb for freeze or shock. Swordies use 3-4 swords and 1 gun or 1 bomb. Bombers ... well never seen one :( I think 3 bombs and 1 sword. How ever its not worth to have dmg bonus with guns, asi with swords and ctr with bombs while you just could focus on guns only wich are dealing with everything so well cause of that, that the other stuff is useless.
I think it's a question of soloing or party guy
@Xyonon medium ? is V.H sir and i get MAX with punch UVs o.o
I mean medium not as ingame stat, i meaned as adjective for your overallbuild :D
I got 4 guns and ALL have dmg bonus and asi very high. all my weapons i wear. even my callahan has with that dmg bonus vs fiend maximum. i dont want to spend my asi oder dmg for a very high dmg OR asi for 1-2 swords etc. Why should i decrease my guns for increasing my swords by that if i can increase all my weapons by taking only guns? guns anyway are cooler and safer than swords in my eye :P and they don't even deal less damage, unless everyone tells something else XD I allways look at my allies IF i'm death, and I see them dealing 600 damage for example to 3 mobs and then running around again for so long or have to charge while i already outdamaged them. Well Polaris and Blitz Needle are a higher league, even Biohazard is great in DpS. I lost topic sorry XD
Guns ftw. I find myself often out-damaging the swordsmen in pvp using these:
Hail Driver
Callahan
Umbra Driver
Polaris
Mostly Callahan and Umbra (Since all the Vog/Skolver clones have low defense against pierce or shadow)
Same layout as if I'm going into the clockworks. Just gota see the enemy in their gear, see what they don't have weakness against, and use the appropriate gun. (usually have a volcanic pepperbox instead of hail driver, but 9/10 times if you fire that gun in pvp you're a dead man)
Blueflood
Ok, I'm primarily a swordsman, but...
But now I also want to be as strong a swordman as "normal" people in vog set.
if you're happy as a gunslinger, whyyyyyy do you want to change ?!?
If you're unhappy, you can try something else, whether swords or bombs, or even a mixed set, but if you're happy, just continue on you gunner's way !!!
I'm happy to have a gunner in any party (and a bomber too) provided he/she plays his assets.
