If you get it to 4*, you'll

If you get it to 4*, you'll be able to use it in tier 3. Then you'll see how it works against tier 3 beasts/fiends. I hear they don't treat the magnus attack as a projectile because it's instantaneous, so they won't try to dodge.

By then you'll know if you like it enough to get to 5*. Callahan's a viable weapon, so if you like it, get it. Like most weapons it won't significantly change in 5* form, just more damage.

I have a Callahan so I can

I have a Callahan so I can explain its use in T3.

All Wolvers burrow/teleport instead of dodging to the side from gun attacks. Freezing does not stop this. They can teleport through obstacles such as gates triggered by switches. The bullets from the Magnus line will trigger this response. You will still do damage before they burrow/teleport. There are a few windows of opportunity where this won't happen. Wolvers won't teleport if you hit them while they are in the middle of their bite animation. Hitting them while they are charging up an attack causes a teleport. Wolvers won't teleport if your shot does enough damage to juggle it in the air. This normally happens if you hit them when they pause to bark.

To deal with T3 Wolvers using a Callahan, you need to shoot and move. Staying in one spot for two long will get you surrounded. Don't fire when they are still charging their attacks or they will teleport behind you and execute the attack animation. When in doubt, shield bump and run away. If there are Silkwings, by all means kill them first. The will not move very much as long as they don't have anyone else to heal.

Wolvers can teleport even if nobody shoots a gun. They do this to close the distance between themselves and their targets.

The Callahan has a slightly shorter range than the Mega Magnus but a slightly larger burst radius when it hits a target. The charge attack will also send you backwards more so don't use it when a floor hazard is close to your backside.

The piercing gun that people praise in FSC is the Blitz Needle, not the Callahan. The Blitz Needle's charge attack can quickly kill Trojans as long as you can hit it's unprotected back from close range. Since Vanaduke is so big, it is easy to have all of the bullets from the Blitz Needle hit Vanaduke to score big overall damage. Under normal circumstances, some of the bullets will miss hitting a small monster due to the cone-shaped firing pattern.

Devilites and Wolver evade

Devilites and Wolver evade every gun's attack. The Callahan is just fast enough to also hit them and Devilites stop their attack if hitten. I like this gun for some of these mobs but if there are masses, the Blitz Needle still is better. If you know how, you actually hit wolvers and Devis pretty easy, BN Charge oneshots Alpha Wolvers. I think it's a good weapon, pretty amusing and dealing not so bad damage aswell. I think you should keep it! It's worth!

As for me as Gunslinger with Very High dmg bonus and an medium UV against Fiends i get max dmg vs Fiends and deal about 330 dmg to them.

I'll analyze this from a different angle...

OP, you seem to be focused on swords. I think you should drop the Magnus and start a Flourish or Snarble Barb if you want piercing damage.

Magnus/Callahan is not bad, but as a swordie, you'd sometimes want to kill some stuff at range, which is usually turrets, and your existing Gigawatt Pulsar/Polaris does at least neutral damage to all kinds of turrets, while if you were facing Gun Puppies with a Magnus/Callahan you would be out of luck.

Oh, and if you're thinking of making the Iron Slug, don't.

tldr: Magnus line is not bad, I just wouldn't recommend it for sword-focused knights.
