It would be awesome if Spiral Knights could come out on a console other than pc, allowing for variations in gameplay, more money for threerings, and most importantly NO CE!!!(people would have to buy the game for like $80 anyway).

There would probably have to be a singleplayer mode (for those without xbox live or internet) and a multiplayer mode. The Single and multiplayer would have to share the character, and those playing in singleplayer could go on solo runs. And the multiplayer would require xbox live or wii connect 24.

This would be awesome, especially with no CE!! I would definately get it.

Why would you think that the current business model would have to change just to port to a console. There would almost have to be an initial purchase price to make it into the respective stores, but it could work on consoles.

No CE? Yeah, like it wouldn't

No CE?

Yeah, like it wouldn't be an unfair advantage for you get to forge and unbind weapons without limit so you can get millionaire in one day.

Console Knights

First of all, if Spiral Knights did end up being released for a console as an MMO, you would most likely end up receiving Crystal Energy to reflect the price you bought the game for.
Assuming you did buy it for $80, you would probably end up with something like 35,000 Crystal Energy (438 energy per dollar) with the purchase of the game, as the game itself is actually supposed to be free.

Crystal Energy would still stalk us, even on a console, and honestly, I would like it to be like that should it ever happen.

Now on to control mechanics...
If you have played Spiral Knights using a controller, it would probably be the exact same thing if it came out for Xbox, although layout would be slightly adjusted to reflect the console nature. Pause would open the menu and such, and you could toggle weapons with the L- and R-buttons, use vials with the D-pad, shield and attack with the four main buttons, move with the left analog stick and aim with the right. A very straight-forward set-up and easy to adjust to, controls could also easily be customized.

For the Wii, it would be a little different. I imagine using the Wii Remote to point at the screen for aiming, and it would have the same lay-out as the PC-version as the Remote acts in a similar fashion as the mouse. Tabs and such would probably be enlarged to make it less frustrating to click them, and I think this would make the menu systems somewhat clogged. I imagine the A-button being used for attacking, and B for shielding, while C and Z are used for scrolling in between weapons. As with the Xbox-controller, the D-pad would be used for vials. Again, easy set-up, but it doesn't allow for as much controls-customization as the Xbox due to its lack of buttons. Could possibly work with the Classic Controller.

While we can play around with the thought as much as we want, I doubt we will ever see the dawn of a console-version of Spiral Knights. But I guess one could always hope.

One problem with that idea...

Here's a major flaw in that idea. Steam isn't on any of those two consoles yet. Remember the Portal 2 fiasco for the PS3 and how Valve boasted that only the PS3 version would be able to connect between the PC and PS3 versions? Yeah, Steam is available on the PS3 ONLY when it comes to console. ANd many of the players use Steam to log into SK, including myself. And no, I am NOT creating a separate account just so I can play on console, as I've spent too much time on my current to bother doing it. The only console I see getting Spiral Knights is the PS3 at this point in time since PS3 owners can log into Steam via the PSN. Xbox 360 MAY get a chance to do this, but that will ONLY happen when they stop being greedy and forcing game companies to do things that would contradict their ideals and policies.

And uh, HINT HINT Three Rings! Try allowing Spiral Knights to be played on the FREE PSN on our PS3s! It would be a great fit for your f2p game! It would also bring you more customers willing to actually SPEND money on CE since they don't pay for PSN access!

Yeh, if people bought the game, they would probably be given ce to stsrt, but this could cause problems for new players who don't know how to spend wisely. Also, if you don't want to make a separate account, then don't! But spiralknights on wii or xbox would mean that those who don't have a good enough computer can use their lees-expensive gaming console.

Also the wii or xbox would have their own server, so wouldn't connect with pc's and wouldn't give anyone an advantage.

Excuse me if I'm being a nub,

Excuse me if I'm being a nub, the only console I own is a PS2, but wouldn't there be a way to pay for CE when you want to on Xbox Live or whatever? I mean, at the very least you could use a computer to do it (or hell, mail them money). I don't see why moving the game to consoles would make buying CE a hassle.

"Also the wii or xbox would have their own server, so wouldn't connect with pc's and wouldn't give anyone an advantage."

Oh hey, I can just plug in my PS3-controller to my computer whenever I get the desire to use one... Shouldn't I be put on a different server so that I won't have an advantage over everyone else?
Actually, no. Spiral Knights is indeed supporting hand-controllers, and if you want to use one that is entirely up to you, however, that doesn't mean that it'll grant an advantage over keyboard-mouse players - it's all about how you play your games. Besides, if the console version had a different server, you would also be forced to create a new Knight, and that would quickly turn into a recipe for disaster.

And DementedDuck is right, purchasing Crystal Energy wouldn't be any different from what is is now.
(Although I didn't see any arguments for this?)

You're giving ideas for it, but the people who dun have XBLive either dun own a 360 or have a PS3 so they can play online for free. Oh and for the exclusive games. :P
