Freezing is Killing us! Turn while Frozen?

Through various experiences: When there are packs of monsters that freeze, you're going to get your butt mauled! Freeze is one of the most devastating debuffs I've encountered so far! I'll get frozen from an angle, be unable to wave away my attacker(s), and continue to be frozen once my freeze comes off! Especially with the Freeze Gun Puppies that do the 3 shot spread involved - the chain freezing is killer!

So I think turning should be allowed to at least let me try to kill/push away my attackers.

What's more is if a friend tries to come in and save you by hitting you, they end up in the same loop of being frozen! D:

obviously you need freeze resistant armour then. i do fine if i use my shield....

A fine tactic, until your shield breaks(which it will if you're in one of many freeze-heavy situations presented in deep T2 and likely T3), and then you get a fine new idea of what the OP is talking about.

I support the idea of allowing turning while freezing, to at least bat things away with swings.

No. Don't allow players to turn. But do put in a status cooldown so that you can't be instantly frozen in place over and over and over until you're dead.

Umm...no. You realize that as soon as you hit the monster, it becomes unfrozen right? You'd have just as good a chance to hit them without them being frozen. Doesn't really matter if they can turn or not, because all the monsters have blind spots and weaknesses you can exploit while they're not frozen. And if you're using it to escape, it will still work because they still won't be able to move away from that square until the status affect wears off.

But being in the arena surrounded by 8 puppies with the tri-firing ice status affect is a cluster of death. Unless you can manage to sneak around them, and even then, you'll be hit by splash from ones across the map because they have seemingly infinite range with that crap.

the 8 puppies aren't as bad as you say they are, provided you aren't in the center of the arena when they first appear, not all of them will have noticed you and you can touhou your way through and get hits in between shots.

I am however assuming that the other half of the arena spawns aren't getting in the way (reduced to a single enemy that you avoid attacking so that you can deal with each half of the spawns separately)

The monster doesn't become unfrozen if I'm not hitting it with melee again =T I can chainbomb you know. And even when I DO hit them, I get the chance to get behind them where they can't hit me, hit them once or twice, set up another bomb etc etc. I've danced through some wolver crowds like this and I only have the first freezing vaporizer

If you're concerned about

If you're concerned about getting frozen, get some armor that resists the freeze status. Wolver armor has this without additional weaknesses, the Icebreaker armor line has this with weaknesses to other statuses that are less likely to appear in an ice level.

I don't mind the freezing, and use my shield after being frozen once to avoid further refreezes. For this, a shield that resists freeze would do well; shields often don't have any status weaknesses and often offer full status resistence.

While I'm frozen, I usually don't mind too much. If they're attacking my back, it's a problem, but usually they're attacking me at the front, and Kamarin (not yet Khorovod, sigh) can swing around and whack them just fine in about 180º and maybe 1.5 squares away.

It's always been shock that kills me....

Really I think the bigger

Really I think the bigger problem by most people is not the statuses, its the gun puppies themselves, there's another thread somewhere about rocket puppies because they deal fire. Well this one is indirectly talking about the ones that deal freeze damage. And there's a chance that the thing that kills ajericho the most from shock is also a puppy (but it might not be). So its more about them than the statuses.

Yup, it's the shock puppies that kill me. It's hard to deal with them with range, melee, and especially bombing, if you're convulsing every few seconds.

If a frozen monster "thaws"

If a frozen monster "thaws" then it takes a big chunk of damage. If a frozen target takes a hit though (player or enemy) it will be broken free. Blocking however saves you from taking damage and counts as taking a hit, so you can block and be broken free. Then it's just a matter of getting hit less. Use bombs or guns against those particular targets rather than blindly mashing the attack button in melee.

Roflol being frozen by greavers while they are on the other side of a block is heck... I got frozen by a bunch of greavers behind some blocks and I was in a freeze loop for a very long time...
