Swords are overpowered in Lockdown, and guns are underpowered

The striker shield seems to give too much of a bonus to sword damage. It's pretty typical for me to get one-shotted by DA users with the striker shield(and yes, i do have elemental defense).

Meanwhile i'm over here with my Callahan, taking 4-6 shots to kill anyone. The only bonus i get is a small attack speed increase with the recon shield. Attack speed isn't even really important in Lockdown, not nearly as important as accuracy and power is.

but still, guns are a bit underpowered in here, mabey add a slight damage increase in the recon mix.

Grab some 5-star pulsar and repeat that they're underpowered.

Um...

He didn't mean Pulsars are UP. It's more of a 'try say that after this'.

In other words: Try the 5* Pulsar, and see if you can still say guns are UP.

Perhaps Recon could not only

Perhaps Recon could not only increase attack speed, but increase the clip size of all guns by a certain amont?

You're missing the point,

You're missing the point, Valkyrie. There are lots of other guns besides the Pulsar, where do they fit in? I shouldn't be forced to use this one particular gun just to compete with swords.

@Nova: I pretty sure clip size isn't easily mutable the way attack speed and power are.

Sorry, but actually, I'm not missing any point, I know what you're trying to say, my last post was purely clarification of teos-ef's post. Personally I haven't tried the Pulsar. Still on 2-3* slow gun gear.

Sorry I didn't make that clearer earlier...

Personally, when I use recon, with guns I just attack and evade. Still hard though. I wanna antigua...

There are lots of other guns besides the Pulsar, where do they fit in?

Same thing as I can say "So there are swords other than DA/GF and bombs other than Shivermist, where do they fit in?"

Basically, it's just like PvE, only even more Polarised?

Striker shield adds some damage but it's not the main reason swords are op; I posted a thread yesterday (which I just bumped) about this, it has some of the reasons in it.

There's a ton of stuff we can't notice because the game doesn't tell us damages in LD though

I think a lot of people are missing the point

It's not just that guns are underpowered, and bombs are next to useless except for shiver/volt--and sunshards...which are as effective as guns :/
The point is that PvP needs BALANCE. Imbalance is not a good game design, regardless any reasons the community devises to justify it. If PvP had balance it would offer a fuller experience. I read peoples defenses of the imbalance and for the life of me cannot understand why they would prefer for everyone to be doing the exact same thing, with little to no variance in how they play. I would think people would want a varied, personalized experience where some people effectively gunned, and others effectively bombed, and most still effectively sworded. As it is, an effective bomber or gunner=ineffective in comparison to virtually all sword users. How is this defensible? It's baffling.

And the reason why so many complain about their guns/bombs being ineffective is not because we are ungrateful, it is because we genuinely enjoy PvP and wish that it was balanced so we could enjoy it on an even playing field. If the PvP is fun when you use your gun to struggle to to be marginally effective, just think how fun it would be if you were on par with overpowered sword users tilting every game to a single and repetitive experience!!!!

This is completely incorrect,

This is completely incorrect, partialy becuase certian people prefer to use certian weapons, creating a cultural bias.
Think of it like rock paper scissors;
Swords pwn the crap out of guns, obviously, and is probabaly why this thread was started, becuase swords and guns are common.
However guns pwn the crap out of bombers, since they keep them from attacking, and bombs can cover ground to keep sword people from doing anything, like with shivermist defense or nitro spam.
So... mabey this is why there are three classes? AND three main damage types? INTERESTING, the plot thickens. It's a color wheel game so-to-speak, everything is balanced, with no pure opposites, or any inequals. and is exactaly how I would design a game if I could do so.
The gargantuant problem is that not many people ever make a bomb, becuase you only get two weapon slots, and start out with a sword and gun. Two slots is fine, but the tutorial should give you all three proto weapons, and require you to use each.
Though in your defense, I will have to claim guns (other than pulsar, due to splash) have a little too short a reach, swords swing a little too wide, and bombs charge a little too slow.
And to weapon advice, pulsar is good for getting defensive bombers to die or retreat, due to the fact that you can cover an intire base, antiguas are good for killing nitro spammers, and magnus is an amazing recon gun, for killing dormant swordsmen on bases.

the way the guns are ok. they are meant for long rang. long range is an anvantage so it evens out. when using guns, distance your self from the swordsmen, fire one to two shots every time if needed to stand in place but never for long, side step'n after every shot is best. people tend to die from swordsmen cause they let them come close to them in a quick rate, or stand in one spot try'n to empty a load thinking that will kill the other faster while the other is enter'n an attack mode.

Am I the only one who ever noticed that Recon has a high charge time reduction to ALL WEAPON TYPES, even swords? Probably not, since charging your weapon at all requires dropping out of stealth and it's instinctive to want to get in that easy hit with a basic attack.

Now, as for guns, specifically... they are not underpowered. I've been one-shot-killed by a shock alchemer on several occasions now. While having some elemental resist. Also, guns are the best way to deal with people using the slow, high damage weapons.

Of course, the exception is the autogun series. It is indeed horribly gimped in PvP and you should never even think of using it until they fix that problem.

well guns in t2 arent OP or

well guns in t2 arent OP or UP so try t2 and from eperince from using argent and sentenza i think they flinch a lil if u just hit them without some1 using guardian. polaris isnt UP since it shocks and once they shock using challahan to shoot them and like argent if there running away since u have mobility while ur shooting unless callahan
