Why do high rated weapons/armor get a significant nerf on lower tiers?

Everything is nerfed to 1* quality gear on Tier 1, why? What is the point in getting higher quality gear if it provides 0 benefit in beating what we've already beaten? I'd like to Solo Tier 1 but it's just [goofy] how much my 4* and 3* gear gets nerfed. My sword that does 120~ damage on Tier 2 against tougher enemies only does 40~ on Tier 1, where's the logic?

Can you keep the nerf when playing in parties as you don't want highly geared players greatly helping low geared players, but not have it when soloing? Please disable it when playing alone. The current system forces me to either play by myself and slowly (but most assuredly) get lots of materials that I need or team up with other people and blaze through the tier with extremely miniscule chance at getting what I want.

3* and 4* still generally

3* and 4* still generally one- or two-shots stuff in T1 if it's past level 3 heat. Plus all the enemies only do normal damage. If you did ~120 damage to everything, what would even be the point? They barely can hurt you, and if you one-shot everything, you could just breeze through it.

You gotta work to get paid, son.

Its fairly easy even with the

Its fairly easy even with the reductions, by the time you have that sort of gear you have more experience with avoiding being damaged.
Presumably it would be boring if everyone died in one hit.

Besides, why would you solo on tier 1 if you have 3/4* equipment?

Edit in response to OP ninja edit: you wouldn't 'blaze' through as a group since the enemy HP is adjusted based on number of players. Just do your solo farming on whatever tier you have available to you, better rewards crown and lootwise.

I know why they did it, but

I know why they did it, but it just makes the high grade gear completely pointless if your after low grade material (Iron Gear/Sword Stone) as it serves no purpose in aiding you any better then low grade gear.

What is the point in 5* gear if it isn't effective in any area but Tier 3?

Oh and you do blaze through notably faster in a group then by yourself. At least with 3 players.

Its part of the lore I

Its part of the lore I think
The closer you are to the core, the more power in your weapon is unleashed
Thats what I think a gm said, Im not completely sure
And my higher star gear still does better against tier 1 than my proto
So Im not complaining, and iron gears/swordstones drop in tier 2 more often
Barely anything drops in tier 1 thats worth it

Can we at least have it

Can we at least have it better represent what our gear does then? At the moment the stat bars don't seem to change at all yet the buffs they provide do.

@Kymroi. oOooOo. Very

@Kymroi. oOooOo. Very flavorful indeed. If that's the case, I'd like to see where they're headed with that. (Having a *sealed* sword that can only be crafted or unlocked at the Core sounds rather exciting)

OT: I think the nerf is to prevent leeching/backpacking/carrying. Someone could easily be like "WTS: T1 leech. 2k per run."

There was a period in testing

There was a period in testing when gear was not nerfed in the shallow parts of the clockworks. It was astoundingly, painfully, dull. This way is a bit more interesting, because you have to do more than swing a sword over and over.

I do think that showing the adjusted values for your gear when you view it while in the clockworks would be a neat addition, and might help clarify how the gear powers up related to where you are.

Higher star level gear is

Higher star level gear of the same damage/defense type is always going to be at least a little better than lower star at any given tier.

But yes, everything in the world responds to the Core. Monsters become more powerful, change shape and have new attacks just as weapon and gear potential is unlocked the deeper you go.

I was really glad when I first noticed I was doing less damage in lower tiers. It makes grouping with friends new to the game not stupid and unenjoyable for them as you steamroll everything.

You see

Thing is, most people think one shooting things is pretty boring.

I like it this way better honestly.

You can still kind of

You can still kind of steamroll a bit, I ran through spikes carelessly earlier on purpose since it did like half a bar just because I was too lazy to wait for the spikes to go down, but its kind of fun to work with people like this. Only time it get kind of sad for me was when I went into a graveyard and messed with like three phantoms at once trying to hold them off. Overall, this way, everyone is useful. I thought it sucked at first but its not that bad. And when you're alone, you may one hit some things, I 1 hitted some devilites with my calibur dealing 30 damage.

Yep yep post #5 was me giving

Yep yep post #5 was me giving in and admitting that one shotting stuff wouldn't be as great as I'd thought it was :P I would still like that idea to get implemented (Showing gear stats based on what Tier your in).

Ehh... whatever...

I ran through tier 1 on the new gate so I wouldn't have to pay 200 crowns to jump to moorcroft in the future (if I understand how that works correctly... )
with a party of other Tier2 folks. Only the danger room was any kind of effort, and that only because of the lag.
Stuff is nerfed, yes, but if you have 2* gear and up, tier-1 should be cake even nerfed.

It also seems that equipment gets more powerful within a tier, but the only obvious test of that is damage points and my gear is usually
heating up at the same time as I'm going deeper making it hard to be certain (especially if I don't write numbers down!), but I think within tier-2 damage goes up the deeper I get.

Does this mean you fixed the Avenger? Sealed Sword at level 10 did more Damage than Avenger at level 10 in Tier 2 vs things that Avenger doesn't do bonus damage, and this was like 4 days ago. Was it recently changed?

Ah, I forgot that bit then.

Ah, I forgot that bit then. Allow me to correct myself: Higher star level gear of the same damage/defense type is always going to be at least a little better than lower star at any given tier.

In your example, the elemental damage that the Avenger is producing is probably setting you back. The monster in question is probably resistant to it.

Then there might be an error in the coding. I've used a Divine Avenger at level 10 and an Avenger at level 10 in Tier 2, and I've will found that there is not a single enemy that the Divine Avenger does more damage against. It is consistently lower in damage across the board, regardless of the enemy type. I'm really not sure what I'm missing :/
