Recommendations for a Gunslinger

I'm currently using almost all 3* items. I'm trying to beat the Jelly King for the first time, so this is what I have when I do that run.

Chroma Helm 3* >UV Bonus to normal defense<
Chroma Suit 3*

Prismatech Alchemer MKII 3*
Shadow Alchemer 2*
Pepperbox 3*

Defender/Skelly Shield 2* (I switch between them depending on what Clockwork route I take)

There's a severe lack of decent armor/shield for Gunners, I already own the 3* Gunslinger helm and armor, but Chroma gives me Piercing defense and status resist against poison/fire.

Question; what armors should I consider getting in the future? And to that extent, what guns?

Fact-Jelly King is impossible with only guns.

I suggest you go swordie, like me but...

You'll want a grey Owlite shield, then eventually a crest of Almire.
In the end, the guns you will want are:

Biohazard
Callahan/Blitz Needle
Polaris/Argent Peacemaker
Leviathan Blade or some other gun.

Armor-

If ya want tocovert the hardest... Welll, go Nameless/Deadshot.
If you want to make multiple, make nameless, Justifier and Deadshot.

Trinkets-Damage damage damage. More damage.

I usually try to go with at another person, as a Gunner (and how I played back in the day on PSO) and Rangers, or whatever the class is called in this game have always seemed like a support class rather than an assault class. As say, swordmasters. I was thinking about getting another weapon slot just for a sword, as a last resort type weapon. But thanks for the advice!

Well...

...even if OOO has shafted us gun users in terms of armor choices, I would still go with gunslinger armor because of the attack speed increase whereas you'd be stuck killing slimes forever (until you can get new armor) with your chroma/virulisk. Don't even think of making the salamander as you will have elemental resistance with slime damage bonus which isn't exactly ideal.

If you really want to be a JK bounty hunter forever, a good choice would be a calibur, faust or vile striker.

*** Gun advice

Drop your Pepperbox ASAP. It's weak when compared to it's alternative, and I don't mean just damage types. Blitz Needle line is the way to go if you like autoguns.

For your alchemers, I love the Umbra Driver, but you may consider the Toxic Catalyzer line. Same with Prismatech and Pulsar. Just see if you like a 2-shot clip with ricochets and a ricochet-based AOE charge attack over a 3-shot clip of slow bullets plus a pathetic charge attack (Pulsar) or a skillful charge attack (Catalyzer)...

Pulsar and Catalyzer are boss token guns though (the other T2 boss) so you may consider running the other boss, or selling off a Sealed Sword or Antigua to buy those guns.

piercing, elemental, shadow

Guns and bombs are very difficult to use in the JK fight. Swords and vials are greatly preferred.

You want a piercing gun, an elemental gun, and a shadow gun. Carry two of them at a time, based on the gate map. Use them on the correct monsters, and you deal huge damage to 4/6 of monsters and moderate damage to the other 2/6. Or carry all three guns, and always do huge damage. In short, replace your pepperbox with a piercing gun.

One nice aspect of the Gunslinger armor/helmets is that they cover all damage types, so you can mix and match them depending on the stratum.

@Bigfoot jk is not impossible as a gunner. Biohazard charge attack recks jk. I've soloed jk in my gunner gear as well as finished jk as the sole survivor of a 4 man. Btw my main gear is swords. So I'm not even a gunner fanboy. Wired thing is biohazard charge shows up as gold numbers even though jk is not weak to it. Saying something is impossible which you have not tried puts false info on the forums. Test first post second. K thx bye.

@Anubis209 before saying not to puts false info on the forums, you may want to check yours. JK, as mini-jellies, is slightly weak to both Shadow and Elemental, and resist to Piercing. That's why, depending on the weapon and the attack, you can have damage numbers displayed in yellow.

And perhaps it's not impossible, but it IS hard. Aiming for JK in this mess is hard. Or you have some special tricks and it would be better to share than saying that you rox and it is possible.

No special tricks. Dodge minions charge behind him while he tantrums. Just like everyone has done forever. Release, fire for effect rinse repeat. Same strat as swords, works for bombs too. Though I'm not going into bomb loadout ATM this isn't the thread. Also not as good at bombs as sword/gun... Yet.
Oh and where exactly was I supposed to check my facts the forums produce inconsistent info as far as resists for jk and the wiki doesn't mention any of what you just said. I always thought the inconsistent numbers was a bug like menders used to have. So like mine you opinion is based on observation. As we are both not admin/dev neither one of us can say for sure who is right but I do know biohazard recks jk
