Hi all.

This game is totally unplayable. why is java crap runtime required to play it?
javaw.exe is running with 100% cpu all the time. game and sound are totally lagging. i even cant move ingame. i get thrown into different directions all the time. i see leaves moving around. is this wind? is this some kind of game feature to the thrown around in the tutorial???

i know my pc is not the best but it meets the minimum requirements:

athlon 64 4000+
2gb ram
ati x1950pro 512mb

i also tried lowest resolution and graphic settings. but that doesnt help anything.

Have you tried

Have you tried updating/re-installing Java as per the Technical Help Sticky? The Java will use nearly all the CPU time on an older single core CPU. A lower speed rated dual core is almost better for running this game.

There also seems to be something odd going on with some users using ATI X1000 series cards and the final driver release for them.

Every program ever will try

Every program ever will try to use your CPU to the fullest extent. It is completely healthy and normal to see a process use 100% (on a single core, or 50% on a dual-core usually). Why not go to the Crysis forums and complain about C++? Your problem is that your processor is not just barely under the minimum, but very far under the minimum requirements, not that Java is inefficient or slow. Not only that, your processor is severely bottlenecking your video card, and ATi drivers are notorious for having poor OpenGL support.

It's your computer, not Java. For the record, I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 with an Intel integrated chipset that doesn't have OpenGL 2.0 support, 1.5GB of memory, and a dual core processor clocking about 1.8Ghz, and the game regularly gets about 20-30fps - just as much as WoW on here.

Edit: Sorry if this sounds stand-offish. I'm a huge advocate of Java programs and this kind of hit me the wrong way. My recommendation would be to pick up a cheap dual core if possible; that would dramatically improve your performance in virtually everything, especially on Vista, 7 and Linux.

the sticky says that the minium is: 1.3ghz processor

His CPU should be fine, some

His CPU should be fine, some users run this game on some old PowerPC based computers and manage to get by.

Ive tried everything but i

Ive tried everything but i still can't get the game to even download. It gets stuck at 1% and won't move. I noticed it also starts lagging my net connection to the point to where i can't even load basic websites. After i cancel the download, it goes back to normal. I'm above system requirements, have the latest version of Java, and have updated my vid card. So i dunno whats up.

I find it odd that they list

I find it odd that they list their requirements as a "1.3 Ghz" processor. The "Hertz" of a processor have never had any "real" meaning to begin with.

A 1.3 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor is about 20 times faster than a Pentium M at 1.3 Ghz. When you first load the game and create an account, the game lets you play the tutorial area while downloading the rest of the game. If initially it lags really bad, try shutting down the client, reboot the computer, and run the client again. It may finish downloading the full client before letting you login.
