Shadowsun Stetson and Slicker

I was just wondering what the reason was for making the Shadowsun family of items worse than both the Justifier and Nameless family. Let's compare the Shadowsuns with the Justifiers:
- In normal and piercing defense the Shadowsuns have just about 1/8th of a bar more than the Justifiers. I'm not familiar with how much difference it does, but I don't think it's even noticable, which makes them almost equal at this point. Secondly, as far as I'm concerned, gunslingers don't really care about having the greatest defense/armor.
- They both give +5 health at level 5, which makes them equal at this point as well.
- While the Justifiers give medium IAS, the Shadowsuns only give a low damage bonus (against all creatures though).
- The Shadowsuns also gives, quite a large, minus resistance against poison and curse.

Overall the Shadowsun family seems worse than the Justifier (and the Nameless) family. This is also different from the swordsmen's Vog Cub and Skolver family, which are both equally strong. What I'd like to see is an increase from low to medium increased damage on the Shadowsun family. The increased normal and piercing defense may or may not make up for the loss in resistance, but as I said, gunslingers don't really care about any of it anyway.
If there is a valid reason for the Shadowsun family being worse than the two other, please let me know!
Thankyou.

since ASI is almost useless

since ASI is almost useless on most guns i would imagine over time ASI VH and damage increase Med would do about the same for damage output on guns. this of course does not take into account the shoot pause shoot method.

still i wish they would bump up the shadowsun set, it feels like the neglected illegitimate son of the gunslinger sets.

shadowsun set

quite agree with this, gunslinger gear is, for the most part about ASI. Wolver gear is about damage bonus, and yet when the wolver lines branch out the ASI sword you get from vog cub is still medium - i use both swords and guns but im seeing a definite favoritism to swords here.

basically i see two ways to fix this, add negative status defense to vog cub gear and reduce ASI medium to low(to make it effectively equal to shadowsun - or change it from ASI to damage bonus)
OR
give shadowsun gear damage bonus medium and a status defense - make it a vog cub equivalent for gunslingers(armour with an alternative focus to the standard of the lines)

I don't play a gunner and I

I don't play a gunner and I don't know much about gunner armor, but it seems to me that ASI is probably not comparable between swords and guns. On swords, ASI is mostly a way of reducing the odds that you'll get hit while recovering after making an attack; on guns, I imagine ASI is mostly a way of spreading statuses more effectively.

Based on hearsay, a low damage bonus on a gun probably increases your DPS more than a medium speed bonus, since damage bonus is a larger proportion (about 7-8% per rank vs. about 4% for IAS) and IAS doesn't affect reloads.

If the developers are smart, they'll already be collecting statistics on how well all the different equipment performs in actual play, and so they should know if people win more when they use certain gear. And since the stat bars don't seem to be entirely trustworthy anyway, they could be constantly tweaking the balance on all the armor in the game and we probably wouldn't even notice.

Of course, I think that putting damage bonuses on armor is a bad idea in the first place. (Not that that will stop me from using them if they're in the game.)
