I always prefer to use what I call the gremlin method: STAY CLOSE! I shout, but the "ashtail and avenger" beginners end up running off, trying to capture a point that has half the other team on it, and then immediately die and Rez themselves with CE. In my opinion, on a team of 8, there should be 7 guardians and maybe a recon. With 7-8 people using the guardian shield ability, you get more health per second then you would standing on a healing pad. (4 bars per second compared to 3). Using this tactic, most likely the other team will cal you names like " spammers" Or "cheaters", but this is to be expected when the score is 900 to 0...
Lockdown for Dummies (A long list of tips and advice)
I love this thread! Its helped me SO much. Before i kept losing, but thanks to this, i have changed and adapted my methods, so now i rarely die or lose in lockdown. I used to like brute force when i was striker, but now i see thats wrong. When you are striker, stick to a guardian. They will heal you if you take damage, and it also gives you a GOOD CHANCE to place bombs. Once, i got sucked into a graviton vortex, but because of a friendly guardian, i survived. Of course, i died immediatly after, as a result of someone ON MY TEAM bombing me with Electron Vortexs :(.
My favorite method is the method i call the 'Strike Team Method'. First, organize some good players with lots of health. Make them all striker, and they should still have a reasonable amount of health. Then, the strike team should wait, while other teammates go to try and take a flag point. BUT strike team should stay close to the other teammates, or 'Grunts', as i like to call them. Close, but not close enough so the enemy can see you on their screens. When the Grunts are attacked, strike team dash in and swarm/eliminate the opposition while they are panicking. Then take the point. Keep doing this, until your strike team has been pulped. Then reorganize, and continue. It helps to have a striker bomber on the strike team.
This goes to lordofnecromancers. The radar jam is when you cloak as recon, and the spinning thing passes over the opponent. It jams the opponents radar. As for the Death mark, when you are recon, you emit pulses. When a enemy is hit by the pulse, they get a exclamation mark over their heads, warning them of you. Then, when they get hit by a second pulse, the exclamation mark turns to a Purple Skull like thing. When this happens, all of opponents defenses are gone, and you can kill them easily.
I would say you are making a fuss, and that Plazmalord is not. So stop with the rage Kreeara.
hey, how do you make the picture change? i cant. mine stays black all the time, and i dont know how to make it a picture of my in game character.
and kreeara, your just jealos because i have dusker and you only have plate helm:)
and just so you know, im getting plate mail AND plate shield and plate everything, then boosted everything then heavy everything. THen im gonna KILL lockdown
method 1: another method i like is what i call the 'Quick Strike' method. This is similar to the 'Strike Team' method, except there is no 'grunts'. first, everyone changes to striker, regardless of the health penalty. everyone then follows the elected leader, who will dash to a capture point. If there is enemys on the capture point, everyone dashes in, hack at the enemy, and then leave and regroup. continue this process until capture point is secured. (note: if leader dies, select new leader and continue assualt.) However, this is not entirely effective, as doing this gives the other team a chance to secure other points. All strikers must listen to the leader, and while assualting, it is helpful to have ONE person be a backup guardian, to heal teammates so they wont die during the next strike assualt.
method 2: The "Stealth Mission" is where everyone becomes recon, and and follows the elected leader. (note: all the methods on this comment have leaders, so remember: if leader dies, elect new leader.) When the leader says so, most preferably near a capture point, everyone cloaks and goes to the capture point. Option 1: if capture point has no enemys, make a ring around the point, while leader starts capturing. stay cloaked! sometimes this method does not work, because people uncloak. option 2: if enemys ARE on the point, follow leader into the fray, and start giving out death marks, then unleash the devastating force of your weapoons. option 1 follow up: if enemys comes near capture point, stay still, as when you stay still, they will generaly think only one person is cloaked. When they all get death marks, quickly kill them. Repeat option 1 for all areas you can. option 2 follow up: as it is likely that reinforcements will come to the point soon, make sure you make a ring around the point while the leader goes in, and make sure you cloak! so when the reinforcments come, they will one: decide that the everyone has left the point, and will start moving in. or two, decide only one person is there. so, when they come to you, you should: one, uncloak and slaughter them immediatly, or two, wait until they get death marks, and then slaughter them, or three, betray your team and run for your life. (third option is ONLY to be used if other team either: overpowers you, or are attacking from long range with extremely strong guns. And note that in this case, you can cloak past the enemy lines a good bit, and then turn and shoot their backs:) )
1- No-one seems to mind the super necro....
2- Rage and 'I wanna make you jel-ly' seems to be the 'in' thing now...
3- Edit buttons do not in fact exist.
That's all I got from the recent posts, I can't read much else...
Easier guide:
Turn autoaim on if it wasn't on
Get skolver set
Get FF/BTB
Get GF
Get Polaris
Get 2x HP trinkets
Get item slots and trinket slots
Pick striker, hit dash and attacks with the sword for infinite kills and damage
Protips: the more strikers like this your team has the better chance you have of winning, don't bother with the other classes because they are slower than strikers at moving from point to point & killing enemies
Step one: go to forum preferences then change your pic..
Btw: I have avenger and you have troika so suck it up..
Shut up. Nobody cares, and i doubt you have avenger because you dont have CE.
'I always prefer to use what I call the gremlin method: STAY CLOSE! I shout' Yes, i find this method very nice. Its usually effective, unless you have a 'newbie' who just so happens to have good weapons and decides he/she is invincible and dashes off to kill some 'scumbags'. As a guardian, on method is to make EVERYONE guardian, as all get massive health boosts. Then, everyone overlaps the healing circle thingy, and set off to the capture points. When attacked, or attacking, and lose health, the overlapping circles from the 'phalanx', i guess, will heal the damaged character. This is one of my FAVORITE methods!
Another flame war because someone made a needless comment. Just GREAT.

You contribute nothing but pitiful whining. Kindly leave this discussion, or contribute something useful. At lease Plazma is attempting to give tips.
I watched my bro played lockdown countless of times, and it looks so awesome. Well, it's so sad when the team loses (mainly because of leavers), but generally this PvP seems really fun. So I decided to try it out... But I really don't know what to do :(
First of all, I'm a gunslinger, so I don't have many useful swords (but I'm going to get a blizzbrand pretty soon). But I'm not sure which role is good for that. Striker is greatly opted for because of its speed advantage (not to mention the quick capturing and speedy dodging), but this would sacrifice the health limit. I liked the guardian role because it greatly contributes to the team, but it doesn't seem to favor the gunslinger role. Recon is definitely great for gunning and sneaking around, but once you're damaged when cloaking you'll be dead. Are there any roles that are not really compatible with gunslinging? Which role is the best for that?
Secondly, which tier is generally favored in lockdown? I'm asking this because it seems that for each tier, players would have a different choice of gear (for example, people would choose firebreak set for tier 1, whereas a vog cub set for tier 3), which only make things more complicated. It looks like gunslinger set is the best, 'cause its for tier 2 (which is not as hard as tier 3) and increases the gunning ability. What do you guys think?
And for general gameplay... Whenever you join a random team, there isn't a organised tactic carefully planned, unlike the guild team. So I think I would face problems on lack of teamwork, etc. But then again, some guilds are totally geared for lockdown, and they would easily knockdown other guilds. so I don't wanna leave my guild just to find a nice guild for lockdown, or make my guild members become lockdown experts. How do you counter the problems stated when you play in a random team?
@snowdusk: Strikers are the prefered class for gunslingers because of the increase asi and increase mobility. You are not suppose to get hit as a gunslinger and striker affords you the best way to keep away from other people through boost. It's generally the same strategy as a swordman striker in that you boost and shoot once(maybe twice) then boost again and try to move unpredictably to avoid other people from hitting you. The decrease health shouldn't affect you if you are able to avoid people and just go to town on them with your guns.
It's also good to have at least 3 gun with you, 1 valiance for quick reliable damage, 1 alchemer(your choice), and a polaris for the wall and support. My best advice is to look up videos on gunslingers and see how the pros fight especially now that the shadowsun got their damage boost so they do a ton of damage now.
Also the best tier where you will find almost all of the skilled players in lockdown is t3 since it is the end tier and most people have decent to best uv which means skills start to take more precedent if you don't have the gear to match up to others.
Team Lockdown:
In order to gear your team towards guild lockdown you have to first have people practice on both their skill and teamwork. You should also have a general strategy so people don't just run around like headless chickens. It's usually a good idea to have at least 1-2 guardians on your teams for support whether that is for bombs or general shield and heal. Guardian shields are very helpful especially when paired with a squishy striker(even with the 2 trinkets) since they can absorb some of the damage that the striker could have potentially taken if not for the shield. To work towards this find out who works well together and what class they prefer to play and set up a guardian/striker team. The amount of guardians to strikers is really up to you and your team to figure out since it fluctuate depending on gear, skills and many other factors.
I'd generally avoid recon but having 1 recon is fine just dont have everyone go recon since they rely on the element of surprise to work and in a team battle people tend to go in groups so recon will usually be rooted out quickly once they know you are there. Having one assassin that can cap behind enemy line or just killing people trying to cap your points can be helpful but they will have to watch the massive polaris spamming that will surely be in every team match you play.
The strategy will differ for each map but obviously you will either split your team up or keep them all together. Sometimes splitting up to cap points is better then staying together but sometimes if you know you can beat the other team in a straight team vs team battle then that is when you have everyone go straight to the other team's first point at the start of the game and beat them down so they will have a bad start right at the beginning. This can sometime be a game winner especially on maps like ramparts where you can just camp and polaris either point 2 or 4 for the whole game and prevent the other team for even getting a point(save for point 5). Anyways you have to take note of each map's strength and weakness as well as the other team's strength and weakness and strike where you are strong and they are weak.
Also make sure to cap the point as fast as you can and slow down the other team's capturing as much as you can. It might sound stupid or obvious but you have no idea how many people love to chase fleeing opponents running off a point thats in the process of being capture only to die by the opponent's reenforcement because they ran away from their guardian or teammates. It is absolutely critical that you make sure everyone is focusing on capturing points and not getting top damage. Having high damage might look nice but when you are down 300-450 in a 500 point match, it doesn't help to win the game unless you magically beat down everyone that comes out of the gate.
So in the end everything comes down to practice, strategy and the general team makeup. If you can pass all of this you will be a hard guild to beat in guild lockdown.
TL:DR practice with team, make strategy, avoid playing recons, and capture points not damage.
Thanks for all the advices, I really appreciate it. But I want to apologize, because I didn't obey two suggestions you gave:
1) The only role I feel comfortable playing around is the Recon, and I'm using it all the time.
2) I went to tier 2 most of the time.
Yes, I did lose a lot during my first attempts, but later I quickly got the hang of it, and my team won many times. I even got 30+ Krogmo Coins in one day. Anyway, thank you very much for giving me tips on the game :)
Btw, what does TL:DR means? :S

You guy's should get a weapon slot for each type of weapon. For example, 1 sword for 1 weapon slot 1, 1 Bomb for weapon slot 2, 1 Gun for weapon slot 1...
(1. If you use heavy sword's, try to be really carefull obout attack's
(2. I recommend Peircing sword's
(3. I LOVE CAKE!!!!
You know what i find really annoying? The fact that if you have one 4* weapon, it automatically sends you to tier 3 lockdown. Kind of sucks.
Why DoeS NO ONE REPLY? WHY WHY WHY?
Well if it sent you to Tier 2, you'd be bossing everyone.
I read it all and I'm already familiar with all the techniques & it's all great for newcomers to take in but may i give some constructive criticism?
What I noticed was that you forgot to mention load outs for the players who are T1 & T2 who accidentally get stuck in T3. (I'm not sure if load outs were released back then although.)
Also I wanted to give advice to recons, do not make the mistake that he mentioned on the thread. Do the following: If you are seen going one direction from the last spot that you cloaked in then do NOT go in the same direction because 90% of the time it gives the enemy the impression that you're continuing to go this way, so go the opposite direction of where you last headed. Trust me this works on plenty of people I've met, even the most skilled ones.
Paw~
Having played recon for a large duration of my time in ld I've come to notice one major flaw in a Recon's best aspect. Not sure if this was already mentioned but oh well. The flaw is that even when invisible, recons leave behind little grey shadows on the squares they walk on (footsteps). These are placed directly under the feet of the recon and are a dead giveaway of their position. With a little extra concentration, avoiding getting 2-hit from an invisible gran faust is a lot simpler.
lolnecro, but ^ is all the more reason for recons to have gun proficiency. When you can't rely on cloak, good aim + interruption are your only savior.
Professional tip about striker I see a lot of the time is that when they are using their boost and come to an end they actually stop just before it runs out so that it doesn't have that red glass shattering effect. Subconsciously tells the opponent that they have control over boost maybe?
I have been playing low tier pvp lately and even there bombers are highly disadvantaged. In all pvp the best class for bombers is definately Recon. Here are my thoughts on how to counter different classes and playstyles.
Strikers: Basically they are your worst enemy. They can swoop in and hit you while your charging your bombs, laughing at your reduced speed and vulnerability. I find that trying to keep them at bay is a horrible idea as it is basically impossible. hazing them doesn't work as most are skolver coats immune to shock and/or freeze your two main haze bombs making them useless and trying to knock them back with nitro doesn't work as their rush ability is better than your knockback. Not only that most are carrying swords meaning they can 1-3 hit KO you while bombs require better placement, almost no lag, and lots of bombs. My idea/theory of countering them, its called "Stinging". what I do is I get in on them, lay a nitro, invis and retreat and pray to get them. A good idea is to stay towards your base so you can heal while invis'ed and get back to bombing them.
Guardians: These big slow guys will be the least of their problems. If they have their shield up, great. Invis into their shield and spam nitros, not next to them but at a distance so you they actually have to move towards you, with their slow speed movement you can stay out of their weapon movement as long as you are smart with distance and your invisible. If they have a gun, even better run around them and spam all types of bombs you will most likely win that battle if you use invis correctly.
Recons: When going up against other recons it is best to use haze bombs, why? because if you get them while invis'ed they will also be frozen, shocked, etc. I say spam haze bombs and try to freeze them to death. If other teamates are breaking the shocks then spam nitro's and other DPS bombs.
Mostly though you will be holding control points and shying away from battle, we in this current LD aren't supposed to be damage but more support.
These are my tips that keep my alive the most and help my team when killing if we dont need to worry about capture points.
Thank you very much!! This guide has been very helpful!! I usually play Guardian, because i've got 3* armor and shield and 4* weapons, and this guide is very useful!!
@Evilduck
You're lucky to have good teammates that round. I was doing that in a 4v4 and I had 2 people frozen down for at around halfway.
I had typed to my team that they shouldn't unfreeze them. But the awful player on my team goes in and swings their winmillion or something awful. He unfreezes them. He doesn't kill them. We died in the resulting chaos. We lost that round =\
