I'm tempted to file this as a bug report, but I figured I'd post it here for feedback instead.
I was doing some T2 PVP this evening, and while most of the mechanics were working well (save for the quitters), I saw one player who was using a combination of the guardian shield and a swift flourish. He was basically tanking on a control point, which is all fine and dandy, but I noticed that when he attacked he was able to nearly instantly shield cancel, and so there was essentially only a 10th of a second or so of vulnerability. You almost couldn't see the animation starting, you'd just get within the very long reach and wide sweep of the sword and all you'd see is a shower of what used to be your health bars exploding.
So what's the general opinion on this? Valid tactic? Game exploit?
I can't say I'm much of a fan of it. I couldn't get anywhere close enough to him to either chip away the shield with my micronomes or push him off the control point, and trying to take out the shield with my trusty voltech just wasn't going to happen either since gun DPS is so low. I'm sure if there were another bomber or striker around I could have taken him down, but I think there really should be a slight cool down before the shield comes up again, maybe a half or one second from the time you drop the shield.
Because its not like half the players of the server experience some form or amount of lag what so ever which gives them half a second (or more) of vulnerability, even if they have pressed block prior to any given attack landing, thus having the server go "lol no, you didnt block".
this person must be living fairly close to the server, and/or have a very stable connection to be able to consistantly block like that.
