I'm trying to download the game but it freezes at random points. Like at 70% it stopped and didn't continue. And my internet is working fine. I'm on a mac, can anyone help?
Download Freezing
I'm actually having the same problem except my download never gets past 1%. It says i have the latest version of Java, i've updated my vid card drivers, and my comp is past the requirements. Oh, and when i try and download it it kills my internet connection. Generally, all i have to do is repair the wireless usb connection, but it causes it to freeze. When i try and restart my comp, it gets stuck at "Windows is Shutting down" and i have to shut it down manually. So i dunno what's up.
Everything is up to date, i think it's either my router or my ISP.
I wish there was a full installer download.
At around 2-4% DLed with either the web installer or downloaded one it stops downloading and kills my network card.
If it matters it is a NETGEAR WG311v3.
This is a pretty serious bug if it makes it unplayable.
I've never had any problems downloading anything else. Only Spiral Knights.
I've experienced a similar problem to Metafron's issue (stuck at 1%, unable to access Internet) on an older computer with Windows XP.
I downloaded the standalone installer program (spiral-installer.exe), but no success. Once I closed the installer, I was able to access the Internet again.
I think it could be a problem with Java... one possible solution I'm about to try is to uninstall Java AND the Spiral Knights installer, and then re-install both in that order. I'll post later with results.
I've managed to download, install, and play Spiral Knights on 2 other computers - but these were less than 1 year old, with Windows 7: 64-bit.
I just got my comp less than a year ago. It seems to me like it has something to do with Java. But i really have no idea. I uninstalled both java and spiral knights, reinstalled and the same thing keeps happening. =/
Following from the technical support FAQ on http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/48 - I removed Spiral Knights, Java, then reinstalled Java, and then Spiral Knights... but it didn't work. I only got up to 30% before it stopped / hung - and I eventually had to close the installer.
I've disabled Windows Firewall and programmed an exception for javaw.exe into AVG (Free) 2011 - but that doesn't help.
I Googled through a few posts on other forums for other programs that use Java - where these mentioned problems downloading files because of anti-virus or firewall protection (e.g. Kapersky, Windows Defender).
This would explain why we are unable to access the internet while the client is trying (and failing) to download the files.
I've done the same, and i also use AVG (Free) but mine is an older version. I've also put in exceptions and allowed ports and pretty much everything that they have said to do. Nothing is working.
EDIT: I posted earlier that if I temporarily disabled AVG Free it would work - but that wasn't right.
What I have successfully done is to instruct Windows XP (with Internet Explorer 8.x) to allow ActiveX and Java applets to run locally on the computer (and on CD).
To do this, I went into the "Internet Options" panel via the Control Panel (or via Internet Explorer) -
clicked on the "Advanced" tab, and then
checked the box marked "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer".
This 3rd party website will have more instructions on how to do this: http://www.winxptutor.com/LMZUnlock.htm
Take care when considering this measure as it does affect the security of your system. I think this may also apply to users experiencing the same problem who are running Windows Vista.
And the last recommendation only lasted for a bit more but stopped again.
What is going on? I´ve never had this kinda problem before, it only started happening after wednesday´s patch and I haven´t been able to play since then :I
Check that your Java and web browser is up to date. Both not being in top condition can create download problems.
