I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad lol. I'm usually not on anyway when they do these. The other problem is the effect on, well, you know those two words that haven't come up on the forums recently..one begins with a C and one begins with an E

Personally I'm pretty happy

Personally I'm pretty happy about it. Power Surges do have quite an effect, whether you notice it or not. Not to mention that they're so much better than those Birdsong giveaways (for most of us, anyway).

You know what's funny? I

You know what's funny? I thought this thread was actually more of a joke, and was going to go more along the lines of "based on the previous power surge, I bet we'll have another one around right now".

Didn't actually check the dates, but is this actually again a month from the last one?

Diamond Tender (because I'm tired of CE)

No.
Just no.

I've finally gotten to the point where I can't find the time to play on both accounts I have (Due to school work), and energy prices are just perfect the way they are right now.

And now we're not only adding onto the play-time which I can't enjoy, but adding inflation to Diamond Tender as well.
How is this supposed to be good news?

Doubtful. Power surge weekends only last, well, a weekend. They can't have much impact after a few days, if even that long. Other changes at around the same time as power surge weekends have a much more impact. In the case of this weekend's power surge, I suspect people coming back to play will be playing a lot of the PvP and not actually use the elevators as much as they thought they would.

@Volebamus: It's around one

@Volebamus: It's around one month ago since the last Power Surge, yes. Technically it's one week later (it was until August 14th), but it's close enough as far as I'm concerned.

This actually doesn't really upset me. It took a long time for the CE prices to stabilize last time (almost a whole month) but eventually, they did. In the last week I did manage to get some highly needed crafting done, so I kinda see this as an opportunity to hoard more crowns. The next tier of recipes are expensive as hell anyway, and I was wondering between buying CE or saving up (turns out I should've bought CE - prices have gone up already) but this only makes this decision easier for me.

@wrs

yep monkeyman in is right.

Powerfail weekend is here to doom the CE market again. Thanks for nothing. This is terrible news. They need to leave it alone and let the player driven economy be player driven. Not OOO inflated.

Uh, yeah... the drop in the CE exchange rate that happened very soon after the release of the rose regalia lasted until a few days ago when that CE special ended. To no surprise, it has been trending up since then. Until OOO makes some other significant change to the game (a new *significant* crown sink, a new *desirable* CE pack, etc.), the CE will continue to trend up. A weekend, however, isn't significant in the long run.

Pros and Cons

well

Pros are:
half price on all elevators :D (for like 2days)

Cons are:
leaves a quite mediocre increase of ce prices :I

imo i think i kinda like regular prices instead of powersurge but hey thats my opinion :I

Last night, the exchange rate was already dropping and now it is back down to 5.7k. In the long run, I expect the exchange rate to continue to trend upward, as i mentioned above, but the price spike that you noted looks like people trying to stock up CE, rather than real demand. That is, they are buying now instead of buying later, but they are buying the same amount.

The CE market will most likely change

@wrs1864

the last powers surge weekend spiked the cost of CE up around 2-3k. this happens every time there is one, and the prices dont usually settle for a while

the last powers surge weekend

the last powers surge weekend spiked the cost of CE up around 2-3k.

No it did not, not even for relatively short periods of time during the event. The first power surge had the largest spike, and that was Saturday morning, and it had dropped back down to near pre-weekend prices by early the next week.

The rose event in early

The rose event in early september reversed the effects of the previous powersurge weekend.

We have never seen a powersurge weekend taper off naturally since there will always be an event to bring in more CE, like the release of steam access. The bump in crowns in the market pushed prices up 1K last time, IIRC.

I personally like it because I can sell all the CE for crowns later and wait for the next downrocketing of prices.

The facts are these:

Before the last power surge, energy was 5400cr per 100ce.
After the weekend was over, prices were around 6k and stayed high for a couple weeks fluctuating between 5800 - 6800.
Prices did not return to sub-5800cr levels until the Rose Regalia was released.

If you read the forums during this time, you will remember that there were tons of CE thread every day and they were certainly not talking about how quickly CE prices reverted to pre-power surge prices.

So, the power surge weekend

So, the power surge weekend is over. The cr<->CE exchange rate sits at 5750cr as i type. It has barely gone up since before it was announced, and the amount that it has gone up is about the same rate as it has been since the end of the rose regalia promotion ended.

i bet there will still be people blaming power surge weekends for long term exchange rate increases, despite the fact that it is only a short term event. How people can seriously think power surge weekends have more impact than things like Punch, or special CE packages, that last for weeks, i have no clue.

Oh, and i just watched a "CE wall" of 170CE blocks be marched through in the time I typed this. Yeah, some "wall".

This time people were

This time people were probably playing using CE they had hoarded earlier, and saving up crowns to buy it after it's done. The first two power surges were a surprise to anyone who wanted to still play, but had no CE.
