To be honest, I don't really mind paying (around) 6000 CR for 100 CE.(It is "ingame" currency for "outgame" currency after all.) I feel that's pretty fair. Not as preferable as 5500, but I can certainly live with it.(Probably not doing as much crafting at the moment, but hey, that is the consequence of being free-to-play for the most part.)

Well...
Right now on this beautiful Saturday morning, the ce prices are at 5700cr per 100ce. I'm quite surprised it hasn't jumped that greatly yet. However, right after the surge was announced last night, prices jumped from 5500cr to 5900cr in a snap. Now we just have to wait until the end of the weekend to see whether prices will really jump at this point.

All you need to do is just wait a bit. If this only happens for the Power Surge Weekend, the prices will likely go back to normal in the week. And take advantage of this event, just do JK and Twins runs to farm CR, then buy whatever amount of CE you need.

I don't think it will. More crowns in the system
On the LAST Power Surge Weekend people started figuring the PSurges might be a regular thing, and the prices stood stable in the new high. Not even the Birdsong Giveaway on the next week managed to nudge it down; what worked was the Rose Regalia Redux.
And now, we DO know they'll be a regular thing; chances are, Birdsong giveaways will be too. We'll just have to adjust to this new reality and get used to higher prices :/ Probably by saving our CE to spend in Surge weekends.
Note: I'm not against PS Weekends, but I think they should be more spaced out. Once every three, four months? (three/four times a year).
But then.... PS Weekends COULD come with monsters dropping half crowns. I'd totally support that.

I find it kinda funny how we JUST managed to let the prices drop, and they come up with another PS weekend, and the prices are on the rise again.
Last time, didn't they peak at 7K or so a few days AFTER the event ended? I have enough trouble trying to obtain ce as it was before, now I just stockpile my cr till I can use it and not be broke :D

It's not really power surge
It's not really power surge weekend - it's just people afraid of power surge weekend. Trading already skyrocketed before the weekend started because people were trying to buy up as much as they could before the weekend "doomed us all." Any spike and CE buying will raise the prices - since the weekend started we're actually pretty stable so far.

This guy has a point. People think that PS will increase prices, so they try to beat the rise while the prices are still low, thus raising the prices.
It isn't PS, its players freaking out that it'll ruin the market. No-one raises the prices, people do that themselves...for some reason...
