Helmets and shields and sealed swords oh my!

I have a few suggestions:
1) Make five star shields give you a different shield effect when shielding
2) Add a shield costume slot
3) Add more helmets with hair. Those of us that want pig-tales currently have very few options.
4) Add more paths for the sealed sword, since it talks about all of its sealed power and its charge attack shows a bunch of different paths of power the sword has, so let us specialize in them.
5) Add the ability for us to flip our models so we can be left or right handed
6) Add an unbind recipe option, with a cost based on how many stars the recipe is, for the few bound recipes
7) Add the ability to unbind zero star items
8) Add a 0 UV ticket for 0 crowns (One of my friends would really like this)
9) Let mist tanks increase our mist energy 109 so that we don't have to worry about that 9 energy being lost
1+2 would probably sharply increase energy consumption for shield creation, since many might want a 5 star shield effect, but different 5 star shield stats

1) no, that would mean OOO would have to work on each one again which is kinda counter productive

2) i see no reason y not

3) same as 2

4) current sealed sword can at least stun, freeze, burn, and poison so i guess those are viable paths

5)that would also mean that would have to change the designs of some equipment, like Aegis, to match the model

6)i don't see why you would want that

7) it's kinda pointless since aren't most costume items 0 star?

8) i thought UVs were good regardless of what they are... why do people want this type of thing

9) no increases in mist tank capacity please.

1) It would be more work, but it would create a substantially increased demand for five star shields for the costume slot, which would substantially increase energy consumption, which is the way OOO makes money.
5) Just flipping everything would require no new models to do.
6) Some of the recipes can only be gotten bound, like the krogmo coins recipes. By making them unbindable, but having it cost money would create a more expensive market for those recipes
7) It would also permit you to buy others of the starter equipment, which would be nice (especially since there are so few pig-tails)
8) They are good, but my friend has OCD and can't work with them, and so had to completely recraft a grand Faust since it got a UV and there was no way to get rid of it
9) This wouldn't increase the maximum it can go to normally, just make it so that if we use a mist tank it would go up to 109 so we don't have to worry about that 9 energy being lost, since there is no way to spend less than ten energy to go into a gate.

1) Sounds fine to me
2) Nah, same reason we can't have weapon costumes. Because it would be confusing for people we're playing with to figure out what the heck we're using. Something like alternate colorschemes/emblems however, might work.
3) I can't find any problem with this.

5) Might take a while, but I can't see any issues with this either
6 and 7) I don't think so. But it would be nice if I could make some money off them if I don't want them.
8) I kind of forgot but I'm fairly certain there were ways to remove UVs already.

2) But with weapons it would be hard to have different weapon costumes because you would have to set up a system for matching the animations, while your suggestion would take more work for OOO
6) It would be rather situational since only a few recipes are character bound
7) Another option might be the ability to buy the starting equipment and other costumes from a vender or something
8) There is a way when you craft an item you can choose to 'reroll' the UV, but if you are finished crafting, you can't remove it.

because they also need to

because they also need to make sure that it all looks right and it works without any bugs popping up. you seem to think they can just snap their fingers to mirror the models and expect it all to work just like that. unless you are a programmer (i am not a programmer but my brother is and i have seen a simple game program.... it's not really simple)

that's not the only issue, businesses need to use resources efficiently, there is no real need to have a left handed option if the current models work regardless of the appeal you think it will add

Actually, I am a programmer

I am a programmer, not of this game, but mirroring a model usually would consist of adding a variable lefthanded with a value of one or negative one, and multiplying the axis normal to the orentation by it. It would require adding no new models, and would consume next to no recorces.

really now... what game have you worked on then?

if it really was that easy why don't all games do it? i've played

runescape
dragonica
guild wars
fantasy earth zero
i could go on... all of which have no left handed options. if it really was as easy as you say then there must be a reason for not doing it if not to spite the left handed minority

Not any commercial games

I haven't programmed any commericial games, but one issue that would make it more complicated would be if you have asymetrical models, which I belive runescape has, since flipping part of it would be a complicated problem. I haven't played the others, and haven't seen much of runescape. However, spiral knights has I belive all symetrical models, and would therefor be much easier. I highly doubt that game builders do it out of spite, but I doubt it is an issue that often comes up.

well the issue i was trying to raise was the asymmetrical models of some of the equipments i thought mirroring those would cause them to look funny

Ah.

I guess that make sense, but looking at them to me at least it seems like flipping them would cause no issues. Also, what would be your issue with allowing mist tanks to increase your mist energy to 109 temporarily? It wouldn't be increasing anywhere else, it would just help with basically rounding errors. Also is my point about 1+2 being good for OOO reasonable?

Also a programmer here. Flipping models is very easy to do, but rarely gets done because it's purely cosmetic, doesn't bother 99% of buyers, and basically just takes extra dev and (mostly) QA time for no real returns.

I want costume shields. Ppl will argue that others will get confused, but shields have no unique animation, unlike weapons. It's similar to Armour, in the sense that it's just there. Logic doesn't need to even go there. All you ever do with a shield is put it up.

That's all I got to say for now :D

im a programmer as well, though sill a student studying games programming, and i can say right now, it would actually be a pain to allow left handed weapon usage and two some degree mirroring of items.
yes you can achieve a mirror effect just by multiplying all x variables by -1 in model space, but these models aren't generated by code, they are .dat model files loaded by a presumably secured class. yes you could add public functions that check if the player has ticked the left handed check box and then multiply all x values by negative 1, including bones (for animation) - but then you have to alter the postition of where projectiles come from - currently the knights right shoulder
but as you said before - its not like its a bad suggestion - it doesnt bother 99% of people, maybe 10% of people may actually use it, and its quite a large undertaking to code it in so probably not going to see it happen (but as this is a suggestion forum why not)

as for the rest
yes 1-4 (especially the sealed sword lines, just having a direct upgrade line would be great, normal damage, charge can inflict random status, use the same charge effect as well cause it looks pretty sweet)
5 i dont see it happening but its not a bad suggestion
6 - 9 no mostly
you should have no reason to ever unbind recipes, im pretty sure that recipes cannot be bound unless you learn them, adn if they can then damn eh you have to have this recipe
7 i can understand, but its there as a safety so that you can never remove proto gear - and besides you can sell any equipment to vendors (not AH), bound or not so long as its not equipped. its 0 star so who cares - your hardly going to sell it for a ton of cr
being able to unbind costumes would be nice, but im pretty sure costume gear is no star not 0*, like tokens
8 UVs are good - i understand where your coming from on this but seriously, nobody is going to want to remove UVs (well except in very rare cases)
9 mist is good as it is. i dont understand where your coming from with this ' so 9 energy being lost' but 100 is a nice round number, it makes sense to have it as this

@geregias if you have 9 mist energy and want to use a mist tank, you can't use it without losing the 9 energy, but you can't use an elevator either. Krogmo coin recipes are bound before you learn them. It doesn't seem fair that my friend had to restart from sealed sword to grand Faust because of a lack of 0 uv tickets, since they would be easy to add.
