It must have been three weeks that I've been searching for an Ash of Agni recipe, and every gate I've been to, every day, just doesn't have this recipe. It doesn't seem to change with each visit, as I've heard. Though I know it's crazy, I haven't completely ruled out the possibility of the devs remmoving the recipe entirely (I'm going crazy, you see).
When and how often does Basil's stock change?
The stock changes every time that you see basil. If you want ash of agni (the 5*) make sure you're looking in tier 3, otherwise you'll never find it. The 5* recipes only appear in tier 3 basil. It always seems like he has every recipe but the ones you need, just keep looking.
Thanks for the clarification, I was getting confused about that too.

There are 109 five star equippable items in the game, not counting trinkets. Basil can have a recipe for nearly any of them, though there are a few that he doesn't carry. If he has five five star items in a typical tier 3 run, then your odds of finding the item you're looking for are around 5%. That's why it takes a while to find it.
Basil rerolls what he has every time you get there in a separate group. You could write down what he has from one run to the next if you like. It's mostly different stuff each time, even if it's not the item you're after. If you're in a hurry, try the auction house.

Well, I know that. I'm somewhat insulted that you would think that of me (you don't have to care). I only asked because it seemed like for the whole time I've played this game, the recipe selection never really changed with each visit.
Also, I found the recipe immediately after making this thread. Story of my life.
You could also save some time and just buy it in the AH. 4 and 5 star recipes don't seem to sell for much of a premium, you could probably score one for under 30k cr, which is only 20% more than Basil. Heck, there's one up right now with a bid price of 26.2k cr.
Or you could just keep doing T3 dives and hope to get lucky, and make a small but tidy profit on the side brining up recipes for other people to buy in the AH.
It changes each visit.
For me atleast. o.0
