Hi. I'm building the Nameless Set for my gunslinger and I'd like to know your opinion on which 4 best guns I should use on Tier3. I currently have:
- Nova Driver
- Mega Magnus
- Master Blaster
- SilverSix
- Virulent Catalyzer

While I haven't found much use to SilverSix my friends tell me it's great for Vanaduke runs so I might just upgrade it.
Which 4 guns do you think to be the best for tier 3 runs? I'm open to new ideas and guns, I only listed my guns to get some feedback :)

hmmm

polaris (grenade launcher type) and blitz (shotgun type) is a must.
but you can upgrade your mega magnus to callahan too. while your other guns, i might as well just ignore it.

Four best guns imo

I have most of the 5* guns and from my experience I would say that these are the best:
- Blitz Needle(The charge attack deals tons of damage)
- Polaris(It deals a lot of damage against multiple enemies)
- Biohazard
- Any alchemer

And those guns are the ones I mainly use, whenever I'm in a full gunslinger mood.

Why would you get Polaris and

Why would you get Polaris and a second Alchemer? I really like my Nova Driver and since it does give more damage than Polaris I'm considering skiping Polaris for now. Does it make sense to get both? Why?

I see a lot of discussion in the forums on Blitz Needle vs Callahan and I'm not yet sure which one is the best yet so I guess i'll just have to try a Needle Shot to compare them. The fact that you have to stand still in order to shoot doesn't seem to fill my playstyle so i'm leading torwards Callahan.

Biohazard is a really great gun, i'm looking forward for upgrade.

I'm sort of new so I do appreciate your feedback and reasoning.

For fun

There's no reason to have a polaris and an alchemer, other than for fun. It is my build if I had to go full guns.

My standard build is:
- Glacius
- Polaris/Hail Driver
- Blitz Needle
- Biohazard/Umbra Driver

As you can see I use Polaris/Hail Driver and Biohazard/Umbra driver. I use what I feel like using, because it isn't such a big deal damage wise.

It doesn't really make sense

It doesn't really make sense to have both an elemental alchemer and Polaris at the same time, as they are used for the same thing.

But it does make sense to have both in your inventory : for solo-ing, Polaris wins easily because of knockback and big explosion. Those things are not party-friendly, so an Alchemer is probably better for a party. But for a twins runs, you'll probably prefer a Polaris anyway, as ricochets with switches could be a hindrance.

As for Needle vs Magnus, try both. Magnus is far easier to handle, but has lower dps.

In you initial list, Blaster makes no sense for a gunner : a gunner should not use normal damage guns, as they do too low damage. Silversix is also not that great : it's rather bad everywhere save FSC, and is outclassed by Polaris/Alchemer + Blitz Needle in FSC. The reason why it's so popular is it's very easy to handle, and is good (but not greater) vs zombies, trojans AND Vanaduke, while taking only one slot. But you can cover that way better with 2 specialized guns.

I completely agree with you

I completely agree with you Fradow, really enjoyed reading your feedback.

I built Silversix out of a friend's advice but I never use it because I feel that the split elemental+piercing is terrible, being useless against most mobs in the game. I was hoping it would be really good vs Vanaduke but I'm not sure if it's that good, Calahan/Needle is probably better.

As for Master Blaster I have it because I only purchased Starter pack recently so until a couple of days ago I only had 2 weapon slots, making it usefull for quite some time.

So my current "wish" list would be something like:

Slot1: Nova Driver/Polaris
Slot2: Callahan/Blitz Needle
Slot3: Biohazard
Slot4: ???

What would you suggest to fill that gap?

For your last slot, I would

For your last slot, I would advise you to get another weapon type.

There are 2 popular options :
- as a Sword, Leviathan, which is the best all-rounder, to deal with things that come too close
- as a Bomb, Shivermist, which is probably the best support bomb, and especially useful to keep your distance as a gunslinger.

Else, you can take 2 guns with the same damage type, or try out an Argent Peacemaker or a Sentenza. Callahan + Blitz Needle seems the most appropriate : Callahan to be safe against wolvers, Needle for more dps on less risky targets (Chromalisks).

Usually I play with some

Usually I play with some friends and one of them is a bomber who already has a Shivermist so I think I will take your Leviathan advice :)

No-Thanks
Zelda

i usually go with DA and 3 guns into fsc(needle,valiance/umbra,nova)
for a pure gunner in general t3 id suggest at least a callahan and a valiance, a magma driver might also be useful

anyway, my vote goes to callahan and valiance, i find those to be very useful guns for both team and solo

i use: blitz magma

i use:

blitz
magma driver
umbra driver
biohazard

i've found this array of guns to kill things the quickest.
i don't care about crowd control, i have a shield bash and movement for that.
the 4th slot is a throw away really, biohazard just makes it so i don't ever need poison pots.
i could lose the umbra too, but it messes up jellies so quickly that i can't stand playing without it.

Blitz Needle Polaris Umbra

Blitz Needle
Polaris
Umbra Driver / Sentenza

Don't take a gun for the last slot. Your weakness will be wolvers and you'll need a weapon to match that. Get a piercing sword or a Dark Briar Barrage.

@Zealousd

i responded to you in that other thread.
man, wolvers don't teleport away from the blitz spray in t3.
it's crazy.
i just cut my grinding time in half with the advice i got on how to shield charge.
i was walking up to a wolver packs and letting it go without consequence.

Polaris/Nova Driver - Your

Polaris/Nova Driver - Your elemental powerhouse. Both guns are great however each one handles a slightly different play style. With the Polaris you might find yourself pushing monsters away with the expanded shots that end up missing the rest of your 3 shot combo on your desired target. There are other times when the expanded shots may also push monsters adjacent to you (especially when you run'n'gun) Trick is to control your shots and push them towards a wall/corner where then you can shoot away into their oblivion. All and all great weapon for crowd control and breathing room.

Since you already have a Nova Driver I recommend you stick with it. Faster muzzle velocity than the Polaris and with the ricochets in certain scenarios can dish out more damage than Polaris, especially with its charge attack. (read: aim your shots in between mobs for extra ricochet dmg. Absolutely devastating if all shots + ricochets connect) You also don't have to worry about keeping a fair distance from monsters with every shot (Polaris expand shots) so you can get up close and keep blasting without reduced damage. As other players mentioned, the ricochets can be your friend or foe depending on where you are and what you're doing in the clockworks, but for the most part they'll save your ass more than it will kick it.

Callahan/Blitz Needle - Piercing essentials. IMO I'd keep your magnus, the Callahan is godly towards gremlins, wolvers and devlites ( <--if your aim is good) and for the most part more practical for various T3 Runs. Wolvers teleporting around? one connected shot will knock them to the ground, allowing you to 'stun-lock' them in place until their death (as long as you briefly pause in between shots to avoid reloading animation) Gremlins just pissing you off? Shoot them in the face and make them sit down until they decide to themselves. (read: same as 'stun-locking' with wolvers) Same deal with devlites if you can aim good (read: turn on auto-aim) but be warned: this tactic only works on early T3 levels with full party members.

I don't own a blitz needle but I have witnessed the power of it. It's a deadly weapon to take into FSC runs as they can ohko trojans with its charge attack and decent damage towards zombies. When you have other party members packing this weapon Duke himself will drop in minutes.

Umbra/Biohazard - Shadow necessities. The Biohazard is the king of PvE shadow guns, what with its ability to herd gremlin hordes, explode jellies with satisfaction and it's good chance of poison affliction. The slow muzzle velocity can be annoying at first, but it can be absolutely beautiful when it can be used as a major advantage. Since gremlins automatically make an evasive action when not attacking, you can 'herd' mobs into spots anywhere you like. Trick is to slowly fire shots at about a half second interval into the direction you desire (preferably a corner) Once they're in a snug spot you can blast them to death. It's also great for when you need a little breathing room when you're getting chased by a large mob of gremlins (especially DR's/Arenas) or you want to separate the mender from the mob. Wouldn't recommend using the charged shots on gremlins, save it for the jellies.

(See nova driver for umbra, pretty much same thing applies)

Volcanic Bananabox/Supernova - Special utilities/unique situation dealer. I highly recommend picking up a Bananabox (pepperbox) It has many uses, especially with its charge attack (I pack this weapon to only use the charge attack exclusively). The charge attack rips apart gun puppies/polyps/howlitzers in one shot (read: aim right and equip damage bonus trinkets, which you should have already if you're going to be full gunner) and it also has a unique ability of pulling whatever target (some) you're shooting at towards you, MK scorpion style. Why is this useful? Many reasons. You can pull silkwings/menders away from large mobs, pull zombies away from totem radius, save another players ass by pulling away a monster that was creeping up behind him etc. It also tears through mender energy shields with a breeze and it has a chance to light enemies on fire, not a bad gun at all.

(See Polaris for supernova, use this for crowd control/alternate gun for Duke bossfight)

Yeah, I use guns a lot.
