This bush would like to know is the Volcanic Plate Shield basically the Ancient Plate Shield with more resistances? Because I want to get the Ancient Plate Shield so these people don't try to break me for a small heart, no just kidding but seriously it's kinda ridiculous if the Shield that you have to kill the technical hardest boss until a new one is a lesser shield then one you can get much easier.
I require some information on Sheilds good sires.

Oh never mind the abbreviations confused me but yeah it's like I want the shield cause it's green and there's not many shields in this game that are green. Just purple and red and I have the grey one. So I saw this and was like cool then saw the Volcanic and was like why did they even make this.

Lol, the ancient plate set is pure garbage. I can't see any reason out side of being bored and wanting something green to get it. You should get the full ancient plate set (helmet, armor, & shield) and par it the Troika because it matches perfectly...
Then go play PvP with it so you can show off how stylish you are.

I have the Triglav actually, but yeah I just think it's redundant.
I just made a thread in the Suggestions about this. haha They need to make the stats of equipment more discernible.
As for your question, from what I've heard, the APS doesn't take as many hits as a VPS does. I don't have the APS, but I do have the VPS, and I can vouch that thing is pretty good.
I think the main 'selling point' OOO was trying to get away with with the APS was the health bonus and the way it looks. *shrug*
