Good morning Spiral Know-it-alls! I come here before you because although I understand 99% of the stuff in this game, the intricacies of shields make me huddle into a corner in the fetal position.

Is there any point to having a non-maximum status resist UV on a shield?

If I have a Fire resist UV of any quality on a Volcanic Plate Shield, is it essentially wasted, or does it actually help?

Thanks in advance!

I've got a Normal Def High on

I've got a Normal Def High on my VPS, and people tell me it helps. It was crafted like that so I haven't experienced the difference. But, that's what multiple people have told me. *shrug*

no idea if there is a point

no idea if there is a point or not, they add defense but havent tested if they make a difference, I do know status resistances are stronger than regular defenses though, but they will only be useful if the whole stratum has the same status, typed defenses cover more ground, also having an status as uv on a shield that already has it naturally doesn't seem to make any visible difference.

I've got a wise owlite shield

I have a wise owlite shield with a Medium Fire Resistance UV on it.
I've heard from some people that it helps a little bit even though the shield already has max fire resistance.
I've also heard that it's a useless UV.
I'm about to craft it into a Grey owlite shield but was hoping I could get some answers about the UV
and some advice on whether or not I should keep it. Or take a chance for a new one.
Any advise you guys have would help.

The one and only, Guardianknight.

@Thunderbunz I don't think

@Thunderbunz
I don't think Fire UV is wasted on a VPS. Even though the bar goes all the way to the end in the picture, that doesn't mean that is as much Fire resistance as you can have. Take Sword damage for example. You can have a Level 10 Calibur which shows the damage bar going all the way to then end and it will still hit harder when pared with Sword Damage Bonus Maximum from gear &/or UV.

@Guardianknight
I can't really say how useful UVs are on shields and armor, but if it were me I would hang onto a potentially useful one like that. I don't think I would give up a Fire Med UV for a ~10% chance at another UV, odds are really good that it will turn into nothing, or Low. If you want to try to do better I would Punch it instead. Still not great odds that it will come out better, but at least you are guaranteed to trade a UV for another UV.
