I'm not sure if these were a very recent addition or if I've just been out of the aurora isles / jelly farm type levels for a while, but I ran into a curious box with the energy logo on it, "5 energy to activate this device". Normally I avoid wasting energy on anything except a loot-door with more than two red chests behind it, buuuut this was a new thing, so.. plink-ka-chink in goes my energy.
And then this laser cannon, slightly bigger than my entire self, pops out and proceeds to take its time vaporizing all of the jellies. Which, was nice for me since all I had with me was a rigadoon and a sun shards (I really need to read the gate maps more thuroughly).
Would I activate this thing again? Probably not. Seriously. That's my energy we're talking. I wish these things ran on crowns instead.d
Am I glad I activated it this one time? Yeah. It was pretty fun to watch...
Oh, also, when I went into the adjacent room I found out if I shield-pushed the enemies close enough to the previous room, the still-active laser turret would notice them. Eehehehehe.

It was fun the first time.
Maybe I should have used it the other time I ended up in that level in depth 25+ having only a Dark Thorn Blade, a Mega Magnus and a Fiery Vaporizer Mk.II, and my companion only a Callahan and a Firo Driver. We just ran around in circles creating a fire doom for the jellies. fun fun fun. I'd definitely do it again :D.

Yeah, I used it the first time recently too. I didn't find it to be helpful, but it was the first time I saw it. What am I supposed to do, not turn it on and screenshot it?

Even when I have other weapons, I find that my ash of agni is very very effective against large crowds of jellies, such as that room. Since your DPS goes up the more monsters you have on fire, in other parts of that level, I run around waking as many as I can. fun fun fun!
The turret? I think I've seen it used twice. I might use it again, just to see if it really is as useless as i remember.

i was hoping it was some rare thing that i had never seen before and it would have a pvp heart trinket in it.
i won't open it again, but i led the whole level to it that time so i could watch them all get fried.
i would definitely activate it if it ran on scrap metal or gel cores or something though.
The laser turret is definitely fun to play with once, or if you're down deeper than you should be with your current equipment, but I doubt I'd ever make a habit of using it.
