I have the same problem.

It's not the Java. The first thing I did was update that, but it didn't fix it. I put it on a different computer, and it worked.

The computer I put it on meets the requirements to run it but not as well as the first computer.

The first one was a laptop and the second was a netbook. Maybe that has something to do with it.

ilikechewing, what kind of computer are you trying to run it on?

Guess I was wrong

Well, it's not my Java. I still can't get it to work.

I've updated everything, but it still won't run at all. I even updated my video card driver. Does anyone have this problem, or maybe some advice?

Try the following: (Based on

Try the following: (Based on YPP install problems and troubleshooting from those forums)

1. Uninstall everything.
2. If you tried playing from your browser, uninstall it from there as well. I don't remember the official way to uninstall those things on windows. Look for a file called (wrong:"getdown.jar") "getdown.txt" or "getdown-pro.jar", and that should be approximately the directory you want (it might be up one or two). Delete that whole thing. On XP, look in your profile, inside either Application Data or Local Settings; on Vista and 7, those should now be inside your home directory.
2.5 Re-install the latest java JRE. Just to make sure that all the registry settings for it are correct.
3. Download the installer.
4. Copy the installer to your desktop. Actually copy, not just move. Copy/paste.
(This is apparently essential on Mac 10.6, and helpful for some Vista/7 systems.)

Windows vista/7 actually had some reasonable changes to the protection model, and some things broke. But at some point, if you have it installed in a directory you can't write to, it has to be able to fix that.

Running from a browser should solve that. But now you're into browser/java interaction oddities.

I switched to Mac several years ago, but I've tried to keep up with the YPP install issues; SK's install issues should be identical.

EDIT: Changed the name of the install file to look for.

i guess i have the same problem...

The INSTALLED client opens up the patcher and download data, then patch, then validate, then goes back to download data again, and keep repeating till it show an error message like "the patcher was not able to get all the files."

The Browser client launch the game and crash it with no error messages.

i re-re-re-re-re-installed the game a lot of times.
java is updated.
and it started right on Update 6-9-2011.

I WAS able to run the game b4 on my notebook:

Intel Celeron T3100
2GB RAM
mobile intel 4 series express chipset family

I had a similar problem and I

I had a similar problem and I fixed it by bringing focus to another window while the game was loading. Start the game, then quickly switch to your web browser or something, alt-tab out if the game starts up.

/facepalm

Zaffy's facepalm level increased to 15.

Seriously Necro.. though you'd probably not understand that.

Fine, tell me your computer specs, tell me every detail that could lead to spiral knights being unable to start... It could not only been your java that is causing the problem.
