Lockdown teams whose players leave before or during a match should receive compensation.

No, this does not belong in the suggestions forums. I am not suggesting, I'm TELLING you guys.
And it's not whining either, it's complaining. You should be VERY familiar with what whining looks like by now.
Anyway, my argument is that because of computer crashes, sudden disconnects (either because of a fault or because your ISP's a jerk), trolls, and ragequitters (and in one scenario I witnessed there was a guy who kept joining LD but quitting right before matches start or afterwards because there were no bombhead masks as bribe rewards) it is completely impossible to entirely stop people from leaving LD matches right after joining them (and of course, this applies to the other PvP modes as well).
These sudden leaves result in team imbalance, and when a game is all about how many areas your guys can capture having one less person can be a recipe for disaster... and this can often result in more people leaving out of a lack of hope for their chances at winning. This is even dumber.
It's even worse somehow when you're playing on smaller maps, on top of their seeming tendency to get one-sided VERY fast.
And I'm not just saying this because I had the bad luck to end up with a bunch of quitters or people with tech issues. Lord no, with my luck it's actually the other team that often ends up with a quitter... and the fact that my team had more people just spoils the winning for me and makes LD feel rather unsatisfactory to play.
I'll leave it up to OOO how they should compensate for the people whose teammates uncontrollably end up leaving. Either boot a random member off the opposing team to keep some level of parity or give the quitter's team some crowns as compensation.

Well, if you manage to win from the short-sided team, you *do* get compensation (a few more crowns since the ones from the missing team-member are distributed among winners), so...
[I know it doesn't happen that often, but...]

A player leaving the game can cripple there team, meaning the remaining player in his/her team will have no chance of winning giving the other team a free run. This is a massive problem in PvP in all game across the board that work around team games.
There are 2 very simple and effective ways of combating this problem which for the life of me can’t work out why 000 has not done it yet, DERP!
Fix one
Have a waiting lobby where if someone leaves the game ever DC or rage quits whatever another player will be invited to join the party take his/her place in the game the only problem i can see happening with this is if the team are massively behind in points to start with the guy/girl joining will do very little to turn the game in their team favor making it utility pointless to join.
Manly because this game works on controlling points and once the other team has all of the control points and is camping outside your spawn point there is very little you can do to bring it back. This is the reason for most rage quits in Lockdown.
Fix two the better chose.
Have an idling/quitting punishment so if you idling in your spawn point for more than 2 minutes let’s say, you will be kicked from the game and unable to join another game for lets say another 5-10 minutes the same goes for if you rage quite out the game. Doing this will lock you out from joining another game for 5-10 minutes.
You may think this is a bit of a harsh punishment for quitting I hear you say “But what if you DC from the game because your computer crashed it’s not my fault you can’t help it your computer crashes on you or say something come up in really life that you have to attend to, you have no control of that it’s not fair to punish me!”
My responses to this is, is it fair to punish the rest of your team that now stand no chance at all and will get turned into knight jam because real life stuff came up or your computer crashed on you. Because that is what you’re doing wasting their hard earned crowns and making their game a very unenjoyable experience, which no one wants.
What this would do is make people who are thinking of leaving the game or rage quitting because they don’t like the way the game is playing out to think twice before doing so.
Problem solved.

Lestatshadow is right.
Please no more pvp threads, you're flooding the forums

Way to lazy to read any post, but...
Just replying to the first post. I honestly see no imbalance when a player leaves. And I hate when any team pulls that up as an excuse. I've won many games with a lost team member or two. But it does matter who you're playing with, so...
They don't need to fix this, they need to fix, TIER 3 people with ONLY TIER 3, or all 5 star. I'm SICK, of ending up with people lower then 5 star. Now THOSE are team drags, maybe not all, but most of them are.
poop.

technically, this "telling" is suggesting, you're giving a suggestion since there is no guarantee anyone important will read this. Also, I hate ragequiters, and disconnecting can be annoying yes, but then it's just a few crowns, and then its basically life, yeah I know it kind of becomes derpy and frustrating.
Sometimes, you have to fight to the finish, because you never know (like one time, I defeated a team, with some of our teammates rage quiting). Back to the point, this is not a big issue, not like the glitches and cheating, so might as well, just do something else, since this isn't an epidemic apocalapse or anything, but sorry about the troubles, I've had them too.

Solution, make a free for all Lockdown.
No team, pple can leave.

Vanaduke for the team that has a leaver?

in games like Guild Wars if you leave a pvp match too many times you get a debuff akin to "dishonor" preventing you from further participation in pvp based events until it expires

Bluh, gonna say this
I play T2 PVP (since I haven't cleared T3 yet) and EVERY game I've played that has one of the teams lose a member always ends with a horrible loss for that team, unless the person left in the middle of a match while his team had the upper-hand (and the team was probably playing on a small map to begin with, in which case quickly getting a high score/all the points means you have a stranglehold on the game).
So saying that "if you win with one or more less member you get moar coins" sounds awfully like "take on this group of chain-wielding sociopaths by yourself since it's more satisfying when you win that way", and to both my response is LOL no.
And as for "fighting to the finish"... I normally stay on for the whole duration of matches and once a teammate or two leaves and the other team gets a good enough score- it just becomes a boring tedious chore that alternates between "TRY and take that point back" and "stare at an empty spawn point for a while because somehow none of your hits even seemed to connect with the other guy". Especially with (again!) small maps.
As for solutions- The debuff sounds like it'll work. And I never said the cash compensation should be enough to ruin PVP's status as a crown sink- But just about enough to convince people that PVP isn't a total jar of pee and to keep playing.
@anyone who TL;DRs this thread:
Go polish your Fausts, kthxbye.

Another way to make it more even would be to decrease the cap time based on the player difference of both teams, i.e.- a team with one player caps faster than the other team that has five players. The same could also be applied to attack, defense, or HP boosts. This would take some tweaking, but it would make the match more fair.

Well, that at least increases a short-staffed team's chances of winning...
Anyone else got any ideas?
I swear, we need these, seeing as LD is all about team dynamics...

I would say refund part of the initial fee and reduce respawn time for the team who lost their player.
For example, refund 200*(1/initial team count) for each player that leaves,
and reduce the respawn time to (initial respawn time)*(current player count/initial player count)
It isn't game breaking, but gives a little hand to the team playing man-down.

This is really needed. I play mostly T1, so we get lots of RageQuitters. Faster capture rates and high damage or high health are definately needed for the team with the losses. Especially when it turns into a 2v4. Sure, we can kill everyone, but 4 capture faster than 2.
Another thing really needed is penalties for..basically doing nothing (No rank or coins, perhaps?). If somone runs up, hits one guy, then sits out for the rest of the round, he still gets the rewards.

Instead of a leaving debuff I like the idea of a understaffed buff.
If you're team is shorthanded then the remaining players get more HP buffed weapons or whatever.
I like the idea above of faster captures.
My experience has been a losing team is going to lose regardless. That's why people ragequit to begin with; they are losing.
Several times has my time come back playing 3v6 and still one and the crown compensation was a nice reward. Many times my team gets shorthanded and we lose big but I stick around A) for my coin and B) to develop skills under extreme odds.
I don't understand the people who hole up in their locker room because they are getting stomped.

No to crowns back.
It'd encourage people to yell at each other in a losing match in hopes of getting them to leave. All my teams in Lockdown had 100% friendliness to each other. In hundreds of matches I've only met around ten people who took it at all seriously. If any forumers were the ones who yelled at strikers for using a gun, or called every player you lost against hackers, that's you :p
And a big no to booting people. In my post on the suggestions board I went with "extra points", based on how much time is remaining when they leave.

You may think this is a bit of a harsh punishment for quitting/Dc but i say man up! and deal with it!
load of other Online RPG do this why not spiral knight?
This will stop 90% of rage quitting in lockdown.

The quitter's/idler's debuff is not harsh, as long as it's only like five to ten minutes. It dampers afk'ers and quitters, while doing minimal harm to those who quit/idled unintentionally. Let's look at something here: why do people quit out of the game early? Multiple reasons - they didn't have time to finish playing, a computer error (crash, disconnect, etc...), or they're griefing. Now, in the first two instances, it's not likely that you're going to instantly be back into Spiral Knights and/or Lockdown. If you left because you didn't have time, then you're clearly not coming back in the next ten minutes. If your computer crashed, then you have to start it back up, get Spiral Knights going again, let it load, and then get back into Lockdown, all of which takes time. Granted, it wouldn't take a whole ten minutes, but it would definitely cut some time off the wait. Similarly, if you're having connection problems, you're likely to stop playing for a bit anyways, and come back later, hence you are unaffected by the wait. Now, as for idling, you're doing it either because you're, once again, intentionally being a drain on your team, or because something more important came along that you had to take care of. In the latter case, if it's important enough for you to lose the match over, knowing that there's a five to ten minute wait afterwards, then it's important enough that you won't care.
Basically, the honest players will not mind the wait, and it will slightly damper those intentionally being a drain on their team. Actually, I propose it being taken further. If you quit out of a game (or idle) too many times in too short of a time, the wait gets longer. For example, the first time you do it in a 24-hour period, you get no punishment. The second time, you have to wait five minutes. The third time, you have to wait ten minutes, and so on. And if you get too much of a wait racked up too many times, you get further punishment.

im glad i havent invested into pvp equipment at all, because this issue is really turning me off from lockdown.

Im all for this. i hate ragequitters/afkers
it makes the game boring and not fun.
@quitters
you quit to grief, except...
you lose your cr and if we happen to win your greif fails
you lose the guaranteed 1 token per game. again 2 or more if you win or bribe prize.
no one likes it if you ruin the game by greifing.
How does this benefit you at all...
now move this to suggestions so these ideas can be implemented. Thanks for telling us, now tell the devs to put it in!

I laugh insanely at you "Lockdown" players. That, is why I play Blast Network. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
If someone leaves there, then you actually have a much larger advantage. Blast Network wins. HAHAHAHAHAHA! Need to get into the top 10 of BN, so close. HAHAHAHA!
"Either boot a random member off the opposing team to keep some level of parity"
I see this as problematic, I wouldn't want to be kicked just because I've had one less. I'll admit, I've been on the losing one teammate side more often than not, but I wouldn't want to be kicked. And this could sorta inspire more quitting. "Hey I'm going to lose against these guys, well at least I can take a member out with me." Then another guy does the same maybe just for spite.
" or give the quitter's team some crowns as compensation."
Probably goes against the whole small crown sink of the game. Otherwise they'd have done this for Blast Network (though sometimes it was actually an advantage there to lose teammates). In general, I think they want to keep rewards between the two identical, so there won't be any quitter loser rewards unless they're added to both.
