Crafting an item? Get a low-percentage chance of creating a "shiny" variant (a'la pokemon). Functionally identical, but with a modified colour scheme and/or extra graphical effects. Basically the same as rolling a UV, but handled seperately (ie: you wouldn't have to re-roll a UV to re-roll a shiny, and vice versa); maybe make a multi kilocrown ticket at Punch to shiny an already crafted item.

Because at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what you kill. What matters is how good you looked killing it.

I'd rather see resources go into making some sort of character color changer than a shiny weapons mechanic

Just a huge waste of time, I think we need to concentrate on the game-play itself and worry about how it looks later. It would be nothing but a quick color change anyway.

It's like adding unusuals to spiral knights (from TF2)

Yes, It's like TF2 unusuals, and yes it will boost economy and above all, CE buying ( shiny items -> worth more CE -> need to buy more CE to get them )

And TF2 teaches us that people can willingly spend hundreds of dollars for a shiny item.

I had no idea people could be

I had no idea people could be so against a palette swap. Is a red frostbreaker set that repulsive?

this is a great idea, dull and boring sets cud become more awesome-looking :D lol a ticket from punch wud be great, along with an equal CE ticket :D more cr and CE in system, the lower the CE prices :D every moth they come out with something that makes prices go down, then the power surge makes it come up again :D

the economy

I could see shinys massively bolstering it. plus I could see that - and I'm only assuming here - 5 star players need something to spend currency on. lets do it. inverse the colors and set that percentage bar low and lets craft some shinys.

Well we'd have to make sure

Well we'd have to make sure that the colors available don't look close to the Line of that item's colors. I wouldn't doubt we'd be seeing Wolver sets that look like Ash Tail sets at some point.

double post?

why?
and thats why I said to invert the original colors. make the shinys their polar opposite on the wheel. that'll distinguish them and some of those'll be trippy.

This might make it annoying

This might make it annoying if you have an unusual Wolver cap but a regular Wolver coat or something along those lines, since they might clash like all get out when you wear them.

part of the reasons I like this game is that if your armor set looks terrible you can always wear a different piece of armor that DOES match as a costume, and this might make that a little harder.

Would be better to let us be able to recolor our armors after we've bought/crafted them- or to give the armors a few "alt" colorschemes for when you're using them as costume- for instance, you give Wolver Cap three "alt colors"- one is yellow (A), one is blue (B), and another is Idunnolol (C)... you go to the armor, click "set as Helmet Costume" and then on the items screen (or even on the equipment screen) you pick A, B, or C, whichever goes with your chosen armor.

@Dragaroth

inversed colors would make the items look so ugly. i would prefer an alternate color scheme (it would be cool to see a silver/blue cutter).

Lets not.

I'd rather not have stupid looking weapons everywhere, already got that in TF2.
