What is the point of doing achievements if you don't play on Steam? I mean other than glory, I don't see the point of them. My friend said that u get a 5* item if you do all of the achievements, but I personally think its a load of BS since I haven;t seen this announcement anywhere. So guys what is the point of achievements, and what are your views on em.

What's the point of them on Steam even for that matter? Well I suppose that you can use other services to show them off, and no you don't get an item.
That said, I enjoy chasing after achievements, started on the PS3 while I was unable to get to my computer to play, got 27 Platinums, but have not put that much time into them anymore. There are services that allow you to show them off, such as Raptr, here is mine:

Eh
Achievements are and have always been pointless and a way to extend the game without adding any content to it.
It keeps players busy, so they exist.
Consider them a sort of memento.

Achievements simply give you
Achievements simply give you a sense of achievement. That is their purpose, that has always been their purpose, and it will always be their purpose.
Surely the word "achievement" is the clue?
