Why does going solo cause you to lose all your heat from that level?

There's no reason for this. Can't the game designers fix this?

that has nothing to do with

that has nothing to do with what he's saying, he means the heat you've collected not the heat lying on the ground.

i agree, it shouldn't do that. especially when you get kicked.

...

Kick, you should retain your heat, at least.

The thing is, heat is pooled by the group/party. Reviving someone with health gives them 30% of your share.

Soloing...I dunno. Lose hat, I guess. Your choice to leave the party.

I was trying to think of an

I was trying to think of an exploit it would match but I don't feel like thinking of one so I'll just say its probably along the lines of someone joining a party and intentionally doing things to get players killed so they can revive them, then perhaps they leave the remaining party members in a bad situation by going solo. Similarly, kicking causes loss of heat since its expected that someone was probably doing something "bad" that resulted in them needing to be kicked, obviously this isn't the case every time, but its an easy way to tie in the same reason.

My guess is that it's that

My guess is that it's that way to discourage you from going solo. That way you don't get trolls who enter your team and solo at inopportune times (thus leaving the rest of the team in a bad situation.) Sometimes it is worth it to leave, but the heat penalty should make you think twice before they leave the team.

Of course, those wearing level 10 gear have nothing to lose. They can leave when they feel like it.
