I am of the opionion that wolver is plural as in wolver > wolv = Wolfs > wolf.

Example, "See them wolver, that one is an ash tail, and that large wolv is an alpha, be carefull!"

I would love to hear peoples opinion making cases for either way, also +1 for making a case based on in game lore!

A quick search of the forums

A quick search of the forums shows 6 threads that mention "wolv", one if which is this one, while there are 81 pages of threads that mention "wolvers". So, uh, no. "wolv" is not the singular and the plural is "wolvers".

In the case of unknown plural

In the case of unknown plural form I just assume the noun is regular (1 Snarbie vs. 2 Snarbies) unless that might possibly lead to confusion or a form that would be harder to remember, in which case I usually assume/pretend the forms are the same. ("1 Polaris vs. 2 Polaris" instead of "2 Polaris'/Polarises/Polari/Polarial Weapon Units") As long as it's obvious and unambiguous what I'm saying, I don't worry about whether I'm using "real" words or made-up ones. I'm sure this attitude infuriates some grammarians, but linguistic drift happens whether we like it or not so I'd might as well encourage it to drift in a direction that makes this language more practical since there should be a lot of people in all of humanity's future that have to learn to use it.

"Wolvers" looks clearly plural and is well-established, so that's what I use. This thread is really the first place I've knowingly seen "Wolver" as the plural form and the first time I remember seeing "Wolv" at all, so I'm going to assume, unless I start seeing them more, that they are uncommon and go with the prevailing convention unless Three Rings makes it clear in-game that it's intended to be otherwise. I would adopt "Wolv" despite that making it highly irregular (with "Wolvers," that is) simply because it won't be mistaken for plural, but it looks so much like its plural form should be "Wolves," so that's right out unless the game itself clearly supports "Wolv."

Maybe I should just go with something that sounds goodly silly like, "Wolvular Beast Unit." It sounds pretty memorable, and once we have that established we can shorten it to "Wolbit." Four of them would then be either a "Wolnibble," "Wolhexit," or preferably "Wolquartet." Eight would be a "Wolbyte" or "Woloctet." :D Oh, look, it's WAY past my bedtime. Good night, good knights.

"A thick garment to protect your hide, made from a Wolver who failed to protect his."

Those "!" things at the

Those "!" things at the beginning of Wolver Dens say:

"Wolvers are a highly adaptable pack beast whose predatory instincts are only matched by their quick reflexes. They play with their prey by dancing about and finally striking from behind. Keep a blade handy."

Ahh...

When using a noun as an adjective the noun rarely takes the plural form unless it is usually used in the plural form.

e.g.
Chicken Coop
Bee Hive
Termite Mound
Pig Pen
Horse Stable
...

Even when referring to multiple objects the adjective remains singular:
Chicken Coops
Bee Hives
etc.
