I whole heartedly support this. Or adding a new T3 boss and having the token items being a Gunner armor set with med damage on each piece and no negatives status resists (and some new guns and bombs would be nice too :p).

I'm a pure gunner, but I don't think this is necessary. Gunners have the longest reach and the most ways to avoid damage in a game where skill means not getting hit. The limiting factor for this advantage is that guns don't do much damage, so enemies have longer to get to you, and even that's been eroded by Pulsars.

As it stands now, I can survive combats that the swordies and bombers in my party get maimed or die in, while augmenting their damage and sniping difficult enemies. That gives them more health to survive the next combat, and the next, and the next. I'm pretty much responsible for my party's energy efficiency, and that's an extremely powerful thing. Doing all that AND killing enemies twice as fast doesn't seem like a wise thing to allow people to do.

Arquebus - The difference here is that this change wouldn't make gunners kill enemies twice as fast. Nowhere near it. Two points I'd like you to consider:

1: The total damage increase for a gunner (wearing both pieces) would be ~14%.
2: MAX Damage as a gunner is already entirely possible. If you're worried about this being overpowered, you can test it yourself right now and view the damage numbers to see that the difference isn't very large at all.

Any melee swordsman with max damage and a little skill can rip through enemies far faster than a gunner with max damage, and with proper shielding, can do so without getting hurt. Again, I do encourage you to try this now (using Shadowsun + trinkets) and note that even though the "bonus" is doubled, the actual damage percentages are only increased about 14%.

I can vouch for such an update. (+1)

While I'm not much of a Gunner (or Bomber), and lack experience therein, I can vouch for such an update - because of the obvious imbalance. It seems odd that one sibling of the Gunner Sets would fall out of place, and so awkwardly. Given that my Peacemaker already has a sufficient Speed Boost, I may actually be tempted to try out a Gunner build if only there an appropriate were a Set to match it. ;)

I think, instead of changing the damage bonus, thy could flip the resistance bars. Think about it; gunners do ranged damage, giving them a very low chance to be hit. Swordies, on the other hand, get close to their enemies. Because of this, they need a higher damage bonus in order to kill the enemies before they die. This reason makes comparisons between gunner armor and sword armor implausible. Medium damage bonus is all that is needed for guns;
Ex: say you are fighting a troll zombie, where nothing cancels it's attacks. If you are gunner, you can just spam that polaris while kiting it until it dies. You might be doing relatively low damage, but your chances of getting hit by the troll zombie are next to none (for an decent gunner). A Swordie, however, has no choice but to get up in the troll zombies face and slash it until it dies. Due to the proximity of the fight, though, the Swordie has a much greater chance of getting hit.
Point? Damage bonus VH on a gunner armor set would be OP. Imagine this in PvP too. If you have an umbra driver and a VH damage bonus, you have a portable Gran Faust.
I suggest keeping the damage bonus low, OR POSSIBLY making one piece med CTR, and the other med DMG.
The one thing I really want to get this set changed are the reistances. 8 points negative resist to poison and curse is ridiculous. Flip the bars to the positive side, and you got a gunner UFSC /UGWW set.
Basically:
No VH DMG bonus for this armor set. Alternate possibility- Med gun DMG bonus on one piece, and med CTR on the other.
Flip resistance bars so each piece has VH resist to both poison and curse.

Also to those who say it's overpowered to have Very High on a set.
Then here's a list.
Skolver Set
Snarbolax Set
Gunslinger
Demo Suit Set
Vog Cub

All of these are overpowered then. Oh by the way most of these if not all of them basically have no negatives, no negative defense, yes less then high defense but no negatives.

Now let's look at the Wiki for the Shadowsun.

One piece has half a bar of negative of poison and curse and before you say that doesn't really matter, it does considering that Vog Cub gets FULL FIRE with whole set and Skolver gets FULL ICE resistance with no negatives and the set gives very high.

Logic Argument, say it's OP all you want you are basically saying 2 + 2 = 5.

I agree!

I agree, gunner armor's Low damage bonus certainly could use a bump up to Med.
It'd be also nice to have a shield with damage bonus for guns, so I can use trinkets to get either gun CTR or gun ASI. Or extra health. Or extra resists. Or sword bonuses.

Currently there isn't much gear that helps gunners as much as it helps swordsmen (skolver, snarbolax, vog, 3 sets that basically cover every boss made up to this moment).

Reasons to use Gunners/Swords/Bombs...

PvP:

Swords: Murders things pretty epicly. Take a Gran Faust and Final Flourish/Barbarous Thorn Blade as a Striker and everyone is screwed.

Bombs: Camp around with sustained effects all over you with the above swordsman and you win.

Guns: .............................................................................................Polaris?

PvE:

Swords: Pretty serious damage. If you want things to die fast, use these.

Bombs: Assistance, as usual. Keep enemies frozen in their tracks or burn all the ice jellies down to water.

Guns: ..................Kiting?

I'm Severage and I approve this message, because it's the least gunners should get.

It's sad how in the current state of things gunners are better off with damage vs x armours than they are with their own 'themed' sets. Shadowsun desperately needs a buff, and honestly it would be nice if Nameless or Justifier gave CTR instead of ASI so there would be gunner armours for each bonus. That and the hats seriously need updated art so they actually look different.

But yeah back to the point, give Shadowsun Med Dmg per piece or at least another bonus alongside Dmg.

But I see the point in this. Shadowsun is probably the most blatantly underpowered armor out there. I rarely see armors that give so little benefit for so much trouble.

Just thought I'd weigh in with my opinion here:
It makes absolutely no sense to limit the Shadowsun to a low damage bonus alongside the other drawbacks it has. I fully support increasing the damage bonuses on the Shadowsun pieces to medium.

I support this... Currently

I support this... Currently the best gunner set I have is Arcane Salamander while using two trueshots, then using my callahan with Fiend Medium, and Argent with Construct Medium... That's Max damage with guns against EVERY class... with two guns. And still, the DPS hardly compares to swords. You get to kite and shoot. That's the only advantage. Bring along a BTS with a couple swords and it renders my gunner set obsolete. ._. I think Gunners really should get shown some love. It's the least OOO could do.

im a bomber and i know for a fact that gunners are lacking, and also EITHER .. normal weapons need a big hitch to make them an option over special damage, or ... i don't know.. BUT i do agree with the whole gunner buff, also i think they should get gun-puppy themed shadow lair gear! that would be super kewl

mmhm! rectify the injustice! and what not ... relinquish the havens of the game with mass wolves clones, for them being too good of an option! ... umm ... YAAH .. ok imma shut up nao
