I only now noticed that the 3 swords I enjoy using the most, Nightblade line, Avenger line, Flourish line, cover all 3 damage types. I think I'm very proficient with swords and they are the weapon that I use the most, but I still whip out a gun to minimize my damage from constructs. Is 3 swords a usable playstyle in T3 or is it too dangerous?
Also if I had full Vog would a 4* ASI trinket max the ASI out or would I need the 5*?
...because if you had 4 slots then 3 swords + 1 gun is a common combo.
Like Juances said you'll have a problem with ranged targets, so you'd still be better off with 2 swords and 1 gun, and equip 2 of the swords that will be useful in the challenges to come. I usually go on my alt with Blizzbrand, Dark Thorn Blade and Master Blaster*, swapping out the Glacius or DTB for Silent Nightblade as needed, especially if the Thorn Blade is fairly useless in that stratum (a.k.a. Jelly Palace, which has like up to 6 silkwings per floor to use it on?)

I run with three swords (Glacius, Silent NightBlade, BTB) unless i'm on a boss stratum that really needs a gun - where I sport a Polaris in place of the sword that isn't useful (there are no bosses where you'll need all three). Oh and I bring a vile striker to jelly instead of my BTB.
I like my setup and almost always do bonus damage.
I always play with three weapon slots, usually on Tier 3, and usually with DA/Glacius, Acheron/GF, and BTB. As a previous poster noted, the really tough areas are then crowds of gun puppies, especially when they're protected by floor spikes. For me they are an enjoyable challenge.
In Firestorm Citadel I bring DA/Glacius, Shivermist Buster, and a gun. In the Royal Jelly Palace I replace BTB with DVS if I'm planning to actually fight the Jelly King. In the Ironclaw Munitions Factory I replace BTB with Shivermist Buster or an elemental gun.
If you inspect the gate map before entering a stratum, then you can select two of your three swords, and use your third weapon slot for a gun or bomb. Of course, a fourth weapon slot gives you more flexibility, but it costs a lot, and I find it hard to switch among four weapons effectively. (Maybe I should just practice it more.)
To answer your ASI question, Vog + Vog + Quick Strike = Medium + Medium + Low = 2/6 + 2/6 + 1/6 = 5/6 ASI. Yes, you need a little more ASI to max it out.
It's totally viable, it's how I play, usually with a gun. I never use bombs, but having that specialized weapon set allows me to know exactly what UVs I want etc and then I bring a team with guns and bombs, or even solo I do ok. Having one gun is nice, but just 3 sword each with a different attack type is great. Then you can use armor and trinkets to boost your ASI and damage.
I use the Antigua line usually as a sidearm for things, and it does well; fast, can move while shooting, and does decent damage, but mostly is accurate. I can hit explosives and sometimes not even have to attack certain monsters etc. But go with whatever works for you; I love the Brandish line for swords, and the hunting blade for beasts, though I have a piercing Fierce Flamberge too. Try things out! Feel free to friend me if you want info on swords as they are all I use, but I am very familiar with swords that a lot of other people DONT use. (read: not DA/GF) :P
