Tier 2 access - now what?

I've been playing the game for a few days and recently gained tier 2 access. Up until now, I have been using my mist for random tier 1 dives with random parties but I'd like to learn a clearer approach for tier 2, hopefully one that will give me enough income to be self sufficient.

My current equipment is: Tempered Calibur, Cobalt armour & helm and Defender although I'll be looking to replace the last 3 items soon.

Any ideas what I should be doing now and what armour I should go for?

Do Royal Jelly Palace runs.

Do Royal Jelly Palace runs. Also it would be probably a good idea to get some stronger friends/guildmates to help you beat Jelly King so you can collect 20 tokens for Sealed Sword.

Thanks for the reply. When

Thanks for the reply.

When people say "runs", does it involve working your way down through the whole tier, or is there an easier way?

If you have friends or guild

If you have friends or guild mates, they can invite you at the terminal and you can start the JK run from there.

The armor is fine for now but you should consider Wolver line or the Demo line for bombing (Don't go with bombastic, bad idea) they're popular for FSC runs. The Owlite line is a great shield to have but i don't see anything wrong with the Defender line.

Its hard...

To be self sustainable. With practice, you can find the best runs. find a good guild. they will help. find a good friend(s). they will help. find a good spiral knight wiki. it will help.

I would consider getting

I would consider getting something from the Freezing Vaporizer series as your secondary weapon too. It's great for slowing down hoards of enemies, especially the final wave in most arena levels.

Speaking of arenas...try to do a lot of those.(Assuming you're talking about T2 arenas.) All the way through each of the rounds. Those area are really good ways to make crowns.(Tough, yes, but it's great practice for what lies ahead in my opinion.) Try to get some good friends too, to help you out.(I THINK the amount of heat and energy increases when your in a group, then doing it solo, however, I can't really prove it...it just feels more.)

Use caution when you

Use caution when you freeze/shock stuff in arena... out in the clockworks it's very helpful, but in some danger rooms and arena (especially the last wave of the last round) the place is very crowded. If you place your freeze/shock bombs wrong, you could block off the path of escape for yourself or your teammates.

Thanks guys and gals, you've

Thanks guys and gals, you've given me plenty to think about and get on with.

Fortunately, since my last post I have made a couple of new friends who know what they're doing and they invited me along with their party. It was great fun but I need to polish my skills up - T2 arenas are a big step up from what I seen before! (They're great for cr though! At last, energy management is becoming clearer and self sufficiency in my grasp).

I feel my eyes are finally opening to this game. I'm surprised how little is taught about "energy management" in the tutorial (and gates, actually) or was it adequate but it flew over my head (very possible :) ).

The next step? Am I right in thinking I should keep diving T2 as often as possible with experienced friends to build by my cr up?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the offer,

Thanks for the offer, Lithanium. I will certainly add you and look forward to adventuring with you.

Thanks also for the reassurance. For me, there's nothing more frustrating when starting a new relatively complex game like this than not knowing whether I'm on the right track or not.

A quick update on my progress (it may help others in my position):

When I logged in today I had 100 mist but it was quiet on my friends list so I checked out the gates. I noticed one of them had an Arena on the first level in Tier1 so I decided to go for it rather than do nothing and sit there with a full mist tank. Before diving, I waited until the Arena to roll around and then I solo'd it. It's the first time I've selectively dived.

Later, a friend invited me to join him. I had no idea where he was but I accepted. He was at the first level leading to "the sisters" (I can't recall the exact name but I had read about it during my background research). To my surprise, the two of us completed it, including beating the sisters! It was great fun and I learn't a lot but I wish there was more time for banter before & after.

Good to hear

Not sure if this is valid but you should try to solo stratum 3 occasionally (the first half of T2) so you can build some skills instead of relaying on better players to carry you, made me better. Also, in party play, don't spam the Calibur charge attack, it can knock an enemies attack into one of your teammates. A lot of people don't realize this. Feel free to add me, I might not be completely 5* but I think I know what i'm doing.

Thanks Elpeo, I might give

Thanks Elpeo, I might give soloing stratum 3 a try, although I have a feeling it could be pretty tough.

Unfortunately there's no progress to report as I didn't get a chance to play yesterday but will hopefully be on a little later and will add you both then!

(O and, *ahem*, by "the sisters" in my previous post, of course I meant the Romulus Twins.)
