While doing Royal Jelly Palace with my Faust, I noticed that when hitting the Royal Mini Jellies with the second swing of the Faust normal attack, the damage numbers were in bold and brown, indicating that the Faust was dealing a damage type the jellies were weak to. However, I knew that royal minis did not have a shadow weakness, for when using shadowtech alchemers and various other shadow weapons against them, they show as normal damage numbers (neutral). I am curious as to why the Faust is doing this on the second swing. I also know that Royal Minis are weak to elemental damage, as when I use my gigawatt pulsar on them, it deals massive amounts of damage. Can someone clarify what is going on?

Its a minor bug in the way it
Its a minor bug in the way it figures out the damage numbers. Its seems to be based on the amount of damage dealt in the hit vs the scale of the weapon's power or the monster's defense value. So in instances where a strike does a large amount of damage, even if its a neutral damage type, can trigger the bold damage numbers. You can consistently see the exact opposite with Gremlins and piercing swords, where it shows grey damage numbers despite being a neutral damage type.
Actually, both mini jellies and jelly king are slightly weak to elemental AND shadow.
The thing is, only slightly means that not every hit will trigger the gold numbers, but some will.
To test that, simply bring an Avenger : it will do the exact same damage as Faust
