So I've been playing for a little while now so not a total newb but the one thing I haven't been able to figure out is how to get more CE without just doing more and more runs for crowns and trading for CE. The part I don't understand is how people have gotten enough surplus of CE to trade for crowns since I'm constantly in need for more CE. Who are these people who are trading CE and how'd they get enough surplus to trade? Also why would you ever want to trade CE away?
Who sells CE and how'd you get enough to sell?

Some people just buy CE with $$$ just for the purpose of trading it away. But sometimes(like I did once) you buy CE, and then find you need a bunch of CR, so you start trading it.

The answer is real money or clockworks grinding* then.
* - And afterwards using excess crowns to buy energy without using it immediately for crafting. You can build up a large inventory before you decide you really want that upgrade or you sell it off when you suddenly need crowns (like you need a recipe).

In short, you can click the blue (-) sign on your lower right to open the energy trading window, where you can buy energy using crowns or $$$.
