Right now I have a faust, avenger and ascended calibur, all very close to being 5 starred. So since I've got the CE and when I'm bored, should I get a Barbarous Thorn Blade to maximize my damage output on certain strata or just be happy with the above. Is it worth it or not?

Yep

Definitely. It'll rip through Fiends and Beasts. Plus it goes through energy barriers, which can be useful in FSC.

If you have all three damage types in swords and carry them with you at all times then you don't really need a Leviathan too since it'll do less damage to everything.

Can never go wrong with BTB

Be it for fiends or beasts, FSC or you simply in need a piercing sword to, let's say, "complete" what you have, BTB is a solid choice.

I don't think that if someone

I don't think that if someone said that BTB is the best sword (excluding charge attacks) in the game mechanics-wise he'd be exaggerating. The first swing on the Flourish/Snarble Barb line is really amazing, wide and long range, comparable to heavy swords (smaller, but still amazing), on top of that really fast. Once you get you will simply love the way it handles wolvers/greavers/devilites,

@Paweu Actually, the

@Paweu

Actually, the Flourish/Snarble Barb line has the exact same range as heavies (or, at least the Sealed Sword line). You can confirm this in the training hall. This is why they are so godly in Lockdown... hah.

consider also Final Flourish

When I got my first piercing sword, it was a revelation. I eventually convinced my friend to get one, and when he finally did he admitted that it was a revelation. So yes, get one.

Final Flourish and BTB are identical in their regular attacks. To put it simply, FF's charge attack heavily damages one monster, while BTB's charge attack less heavily damages a few. They're both good. Probably BTB is easier to master, because the FF charge has to be aimed carefully and can leave you exposed. But consider FF.

do it haha my barby shield

do it haha my barby shield and skolver where the first pieces i upgraded (last week) just for that sole reason of the max damage output

my calibur did around 200damage/hit on the RJ with my charge attack (wich doesn't knock him back so all 3 allways connect) so that's over 600 damage/charge hehe (want to see him heal that kinda damage)

Heh...

it was a revelation

I remember that time my gunner switched from Callahan to Blitz Needle...

Anyway, if my alt had only two slots for the sword (such as in a 2swords,gun,bomb layout), it would be a Dark Thorn Blade plus one of any other sword. That's how good I think it is. In fact it's so powerful that I didn't feel the need to upgrade it yet despite repeatedly wading into beast strata...

One of the nice things about

One of the nice things about the BTB is that you can often hit switches with either the second regular strike, or the charge attack's projectiles. No more running for the clay pot or switching to your gun.
