I have a glacius, but my teammates always break my freezes, so I only use it for solo play. FSC aside, which of the two should I get?
Combuster or voltedge for general group play?
I enjoy the hell out of my Voltedge. Just be aware of when to use the charged attack and when to just hack away. (IE: Quicksilvers)
Crowd Control: I usually group monsters up and release a charge attack to shock them, then kite if necessary. Shock is a nice status effect to dish out.
Voltedge is better for slowing enemies down(Marginally), but Combuster has more DPS if you manage to set an enemy on fire. If you're fond of the crowd control element Glacius has, I'd say take Voltedge. I'd recommend Combuster.
my weapon setup for Tier1/2
1 Combuster > high CTR
2 Polaris > very high ASI
3 Acheron > high CTR + low damage to construct
the combuster is a great all purpose weapon like the polaris :)
acheron is what i use for gremlin and beast monsters + Lichen Colony or Giant Lichen Colony and oilers...
charge hitting on Oilers with combuster in a group is dangerous but can be fun way to piss others off :P
you can use a combuster in FSC but their are better weapons for that run really...
Both are elemental weapons, different almost only to the status effect they inflict..
I would say Voltedge is more superior in general parties since it can inflict shock..
WHY?
Shock and fire are both DOT,
BUT, Fire inflicts normal damage and Shock inflicts Elemental damage.. Which apparently would be beneficial, since your going to use an elemental weapon to enemies weak to it...
- note -
when shock status effect mitigates, it produces a small AOE shocking allies and foes alike
Do you have the patience to get krogmo coins or enough money to buy an already crafted voltedge? that's important too
Shock sporadically interrupts enemies but may affect careless allies. Still the danger of charging quicksilvers is acceptable, compared to a burning oiler.
Since you did say FSC aside, Combuster.
